Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Hey so I was away for 2 weeks, saw nothing but scores and boxscores and stuff.Good news every morning for about a week then nothing but shit news. Can someone give me a quick recap of what the hell went wrong with the Atlanta and Chicago series? Seems hard to believe we managed to piss away so much momentum so quickly. How did it affect the whole give up/not give up question?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 A lot of it is on you, leaving the SHaM's in the midst of an unexpected playoff push to gallivant around Europe. Please do not leave NYS for the rest of the month.Come to think of it, don't leave Brooklyn. Tyia...
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Author Posted September 3, 2019 Oh, I got bad news. Biz trip to Vegas in 2 weeks then in October looks like we're moving ... to Queens
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Typical stuff. Syndergaard giving up 10 runs in 3 innings, for instance. It was basically a team-wide 6-game brain and performance fart, sandwiched between a sweep of the Indians and 3 of 4 from the Phils and Nats. This team, I tells ya, it can drive you nuts.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 They basically stopped hitting, scoring 1, 1, 2, 1 in four of the six (ATL & CHC) games, often against struggling hurlers. Then even when they did hit they stopped clutch-hitting so the losing streak came despite out-hitting the other side in half of the six games.Pitching was good but had bad timing; they held the opposition to 5-or-fewer in four of the games, but the games where the Mets managed to score 5 & 7 were the ones where they allowed 9 & 11Also got out-HR'd by a bunch, particularly by the Cubs.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Author Posted September 3, 2019 It's concerning.Playoff bound teams don't lose 6 in a row to contenders in late August no matter what the circumstances.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 They wore those awful uniforms, which is almost as bad as leaving the country during a playoff race.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Yeah, you missed a national scandal there.
