bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Night game/day game, so no Ramos.Tomorrow is a night game, Ramos.Wednesday is a day game... if you sit Ramos that means he hasn't played in 2 out of 4 games. It's also supposed to be over 90 degrees in DC on Wednesday but Thursday is a day off.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Howie Rose reporting that Mickey Callaway is allegedly trying to convince his players not to bust it down the line so much.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 This 1:00 day game in a different city after a Sunday night game bullshit shouldn't be allowed
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Nimmo's plate appearance took so long that Howie Rose was repeating trivia he told about him earlier in the at-bat.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Love a backup catcher who drives in a run while giving the starter and his hitting streak a necessary rest. Everybody helps.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 They're talking Madonna in the radio booth. Howie doesn't sound like a fan.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Like René Rivera, Jeff McNeil lives!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Man, if Nimmo can bring this sort of performance regularly, he's really what the team has needed.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Howie absolutely killed it that half inning.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 There was a comment pre-game that the Mets want Lowrie to have more work in the minors but the minor league season is ending so they needed good results from AAA--and they are happening. Buffalo defeated SWB and Syracuse is up 8-3 in the 8th so they'll play a tie-breaker game tomorrow night. Lowrie was 2 for 3 today. Jason Krizan continues to crush the ball. He's a 30-year old prospect so perhaps he'll have some use as an extra OF'er next year. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=607249#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALLhttp://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=607249#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Added bonus to winning by seven runs: The team likely won't have to deploy Wilson Ramos off the bench, keeping his hitting streak intact and getting him his rest.Luis Guillorme batting for Syndergaard, which, you know, "BOOOOO!" because it would have been a solid opportunity to get Haggerty's feet wet.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Excellent point Edgy. I guess Mickey wanted to reward Luis for the perfect sac bunt.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Taking Syndergaard out of this game for Tyler Bashlor is mind-bogglingly stupid.

The extended grumbling about inter-league play. Sorry the Cubs and the Mariners -- the game he was bellyaching about the most -- aren't natural rivals. But I like to see teams I normally don't get to see. And yes, the Mariners come into town to see the White Sox. But there are a lot of other cities that don't have another team.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Mind. Bogglingly. Stupid.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Two out in the ninth and Bashlor blows the shutout by giving up a three-run homer to some guy name Asdrubal Cabrera.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Well, now the team won't have Bashlor available tomorrow.Mind. Bogglingly. Genius?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 You can't have Bashlor without a bash.Later

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I missed Howie's interleague play rant but good for him. I get Mets v Yanks or Dodgers v Angels though I'd prefer none of that as well. But the destruction and loss of the old schedule where a team played its division plenty and the rest of the league -- all potential wild card rivals -- a lot, isnt worth it so that the Royals could play the Nats every three or four years, which is more typical of an interleague series. Jeez, it's 2019. You could watch games on your smartphone.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I hate interleague play. I'd rather play the teams you have to beat rather than a team you see every 3 or 4 years.

It kept his momentum going, got him the high of walking off the mound and shaking everybody's hands after striking out the last guy in a victory, and put seeds of fear into the minds of his National opponents that, oh shit, maybe he's good again.
