Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Stinky round.Went with another Strawberry failed Nickname. For a closet-case, Piazza was pretty out, wasn't he?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I said as much in the last thread. Also, he was all about the black and white. And that's where I went. Pretty cool of fellow Hall-of-Famer Lee Smith to do the article.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 New York Sports, like The National and Newsweek-era Inside Sports, should have existed a lot longer than it did. This was the premiere issue (and deserves to be in one of the after-the-chronology rounds).http://i67.tinypic.com/2vj6g4p.jpghttp://i67.tinypic.com/2vj6g4p.jpgNYS and Darryl take the Strawberry cake here. Postmodern Baseball Digest looks like a bad dream; Mike needs a splash of orange and/or blue; the hat barrage is disquieting.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I like the Mets Against the World. Seems odd that Koosman would be picked to be the face of the Mets as opposed to Seaver. But I love caps and it's a neat snapshot of all the styles at the time. Note the hasty transition cap from Pilot ot Brewer. I don't think that version, with the scrambled eggs, ever made it on a field in Milwaukee, but I could be wrong. I also didn't the the Angels had the halo as late as 1970.
