Last year I was a revelation out of the pen. I was a big part of the team's 11-1 start, and then, when the roof caved in, I stayed strong. Reliable, anyhow.

But come September, I fell apart. I stunk like cabbage in the sun. A 7.71 ERA after the kids went back to school. A .903 OPS against. That's not going to do.

So what is it? Was I tired? Was I hurt? Was I regressing?

There are a lot of theories floating out there. Maybe I need to lose the locks like deGrom did. Get serious. Maybe I need to let the team know that pitching out of the pen is messing me up, and to ask for a few starts to re-prove myself. Maybe I just didn't have my head in the game. It's a long season, you know?

But we've got a big-shot new catcher signed by our big-shot new GM. I look forward to getting a big shot new chance.

It's spring and all is new. But come summer and then fall, a lot will have happened. How do you think that's going to look?

He pitched nearly 50 IP over the first half of the season, and that took its toll. An even-paced 70 IP would give him a solid 3.15 ERA an 1.10 WHIP with 80 Ks.

I think he has good stuff and can be quite effective if he stays healthy and consistent but, this is the season he really needs to do those things.

If he's not better than average his Instagrams with Syndergaard and lustrous curls mean dick and we can blame Mickey for abusing him all we want, it won't matter.

So listen up, Gselly!! Gimme 60 good innings!

Pitches well enough to open some outside interest, traded mid-July.
