Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I received an e-mail today telling me that Tom Hausman, the Mets first-ever free-agent signing, died on Wednesday.I couldn't find any confirmation online, so we'll have to keep an eye out.https://www.tradingcarddb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/79/79-99Fr.jpg> https://www.tradingcarddb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/81/81-643Fr.jpg>

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I'm pretty sure I have both those cards somewhere. He looks so young, with his whole life ahead of him. I hope he made the most of it.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 That Magic summer of 1980 was as much on Tom Hausman's durable right arm as any Met. One of those middle relievers you live with and understand just how valuable he is. RIP.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I associate Tom with Pete Falcone as Torre's swingmen. Both could have an occasional killer of a star. Neither was quite up to staying in the starting rotation, but they seemed wasted in the bullpen.I guess that made them the Lugo and Gsellman of their time.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I'm a little concerned about that pink mole popping up underneath the 32 on the front of the jersey.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Really, That's what concerns you about that picture?!?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 Apart from the mole, I think I look pretty good.
