What the hell is Mickey doing? A thirty-four year-old at third base and another at shortstop? In this going-nowhere season? What happened to getting a look at the kids? What the hell is going on here?

Oh, right. Never mind. Let's Go David. Let's Go Jose. Let's Go Mets.

Turns out only two of the above entries are correct.

Reyes SS

Wright 3B
Conforto LF
Bruce 1B
Nimmo RF
Jackson CF
Plawecki C
Matz P

The actual lineup the last time Reyes & Wright were in the same starting lineup (9/28/11):

SS - Jose Reyes
2B - Ruben Tejada
LF - Willie Harris
3B - David Wright
1B - Nick Evans
RF - Mike Baxter
C - Ronny Paulino
CF - Jason Pridie
P - Miguel Batista

Some guy named Justin Turner pinch-ran for Reyes after his (in)famous lead-off / bunt base-hit / quick-exit. Turner would stay in the game at 2nd w/Tejada moving over to SS
Josh Satin later pinch-ran for Wright and played 3rd for the remainder of the game.
Evans & Baxter drove in the runs in the 3-0 NYM victory. The 2R HR by Baxter was the first of his career ... there would be three more.
Batista pitched a complete game two-hit shutout. He'd only start five more games in his career (not surprising seeing as how he was already 40 y/o at this point)

Good job, I was wondering what year it was. Evans, Baxter, Paulino and
Pridie... yikes, that's a fearsome foursome.

Nice opening inning by Matz. Now I just want to see Wright get a hit.

Lead off double by Reyes. It seems like old times.

Just as I'm saying "Who paid 1,000 bucks for those seats behind the plate and aren't in their seats in the first inning?!" the Wright family sneaks down the tunnel and takes the seats.

And Jose leads off with a double -- and here comes Wright!

Wright draws a walk. Mets at the corners.

Well, the old guys came through in the 1st inning. Conforto grounds weakly to the pitcher for an inning ending double play.

Two things I didn't realize how much I missed:

Easy chance for Wright at third and he handles it flawlessly with a nice throw across the diamond.

Cliff Floyd was a favorite of mine during his time with the Mets.

Conforto with a weak dribbler toward short for a single thanks to the shift.

Unless Wright says he can't continue on, I don't see any reason to pull him this early.
