Straw was my guess, along with Piazza as the gimme.

I don't think Straw got it done as a Dodger, nor Eddie Murray as a Met.

Jeff Kent?

Yup. Went to bed when they were down 5-4. Spared myself another absolute bullpen meltdown.

Bruce, you were an outfielder, right?

It's really great that they aren't calling up Peter Alonso on the guise of his bad defense at 1B when there is a skilled practitioner of the art there in Jay Bruce.

My immediate guess was Strawberry, but we tend to forget how sucky Straw was out there playing for his 'dream team'. "Me and 'E'*, we're gonna tear it up out there"

But he lasted only three years into his four year FA deal and played less than 1-1/2 years worth of games (214) during that time. Hit hit just 38 LAD HRs while batting .243 (.263 as a Met)

Trivia answer was Hundley, Piazza & Kent. I had to look it up this morning. Hundley had exactly 50 HRs as a Dodger.

I win!!

At least, I won on second thought.

Consolation prize!

Just goes to show what happens when Jeff McNeil isn't in the starting lineup.
(Not sure how much of that is joking. I know the game went south when he got into the game, but still ... )

This sort of selective amnesia is one of the things that annoyed me about 'WORST TEAM MONEY CAN BUY'
Because the writers got so much copy out of having Strawberry around they mistook column inch numbers for stat sheet numbers and cited the failure of the Mets to re-sign him to be the #1 cause of the team's crash as if Straw's decline in health and production either never happened or somehow wouldn't have happened if he didn't switch coasts.
