I was seated under the press box. A great vantage point to watch a game in a park where most everywhere is a great vantage point to watch a game. You know how some folks, realizing how outre it is to dress like their favorite player, attempt a flanking maneuver and dress like an umpire or something? I had a guy sitting a section over — a grown-ass man, mind you — who was doing PA announcer cosplay. Every time there was a player substitution, he stood up, put his home-made fake microphone to his mouth, and bellowed out the change. "Your attention please! Now pitching for the Mets! Number 39! JERRY BLEVINS!"
.

Imagine if you told that guy he's basically no different than the guy who dressed up as Robin Hood and goes to the Renn Faire, just different mediums?

Great story, Edgy! But now could you explain Pin Man to me? :)

pin guy:

While much has changed in the 20 years since Frazier played in the Little League World Series, the tradition of trading pins remains alive and well. During Toms Rivers' run through the tournament, Frazier estimated he collected close to 1,000 pins, which he pressed into two binders that he intends to carry with him to Williamsport.

Maybe he's the same guy.

Is it more than "This guy has a lot of pins?"

That's a good part of the what. Speculating about the why is where it gets complicated.

Also, I kneeled for the anthem and didn't get thwacked.
