Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 THoUgHTs ON tHe GamE!That first pitch swinging Nido DP. What a bonerkill.Mets were dead, crowd was dead, damp and a little too chilly. We were basically thanking Bruce for first-pitch half-assing it in the 9th to get us out of there.Joey Bats doesn't appear to be the world's best outfielder.Starting to get a little worried over how hard they're leaning on Gsellman. He worked very hard last night. This may be unpopular but Reyes IMO still hasn't had the number of PAs you'd like to see before pulling the rug on a guy. I mean, its getting close, but he deserves 100 PAs. Not a good third baseman.Frazier and David Wright are really screwing us over

Even with great weather and Syndergaard on the mound, the crowd was dead for most of the game. 1-0 felt nearly insurmountable. The fact of the matter is that the Mets just don't have enough offense. There is no point in the lineup where you look at the 3 due up and think "Ok, we're set up to score next inning".

He could have survived one or the other but not both. His final line will be 6 innings, and because of that error, 1 ER. But this is the worst offense in baseball. Gotta get out of that inning.Frayed Knot wrote:They're making too many mediocre pitchers look like Grover Jason Alexander. Gotta get out of that inning.Well, again, his biggest problem wasn't his inability to get out of that inning, it was his complicity in setting it up in the first place. But I'll at least take some solace (but not Salas) in the fact that after he gave up probably the four hardest hits all night [Double - Single - Single - Lineout] that, rather than fall apart, he did everything to limit the damage but got shit luck:- first came the bunt disaster which combined a bad decision with a bad throw with a clanked catch (the throw, though low, did hit Cabrera in the glove and the 'E' really could have gone either way)- he followed that with a Pop-out and then the killer was the 2-RBI 86-hopper under two gloves- and then, when the game really had a chance to be blown wide open, he K'd Bour to end the inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I thought that error was going to go to Cabrera. I actually watched the inning thinking that was Flores covering. If that was a firstbaseman covering, the E might have gone to him, but considering the guy receiving the throw had to hustle over from second base and then reshuffle his feet to receive the throw, I understand why Reyes got it.
