Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Friday night in the City of Fraternal Affection, as Steven Matz takes the bump against Jake Arrieta and the Phils. The Mets have the day off today, while the Phils wrap up their series hosting the Giants with an afternoon feature, having won the first three as part of a four-game winning streak. The Phils enter today's game in second place, two and a half games ahead of the Mets, who have fallen into fourth, a half game behind the Washington Nationals.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 I haven't started an IGT since June 4, 2014! And before that, the last time was June 7, 2011!I think it's time to try again. I can't be any worse than everyone else has been, can I?Maybe this change of pace will bring some good luck.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Jake Arrieta is 3-1 with a 3.15 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. I would guess he has about a 40% chance of throwing a no-hitter Friday.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 With the demotion today (5/10) of LHP Zac Curtis coupled with the recent (5/7) DL'ing of LHP Adam Morgan, the Philly pitching staff currently consists of 13 arms, all of them right-handed.Additionally, the Phils have only two LH bats on their current roster [Odubel Herrera, Nick Williams] although that at least is augmented by the presence of five switch-hitters (two regulars).
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 I believe a five man bench is more valuable than a 13th pitcher

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 I know. I'm excited about that. Hopefully we see three days of Nimmo and he goes 14 for 18.

His peripherals are worrying.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 11, 2018 Author Posted May 11, 2018 Broke and miserly though they may be, their team has a payroll 58% higher than the Phils.

The Mets should have one of the top five payrolls. Because. That they're not even close doesn't stop them from charging you forty bucks for a sandwich, a side and a soda, the fucking grifting Wilpons.
