Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 It's been a lot threads and a lot of expectorating, but the Cheyenne Kid is a big one. If I can do in 18 what you know I can do, the Mets offense will totally get it done.I've got it all, or most of it all anyway. Mad on-base skills, latent extra-base power, enough defense to stick at center, if not quite flourish out there, a boyish smile, a new wife, and first round pedigree. What are they waiting for? What are you waiting for? Tell me what my 2018 is going to be? Awesome, right?[fimg=275]http://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/brandon-nimmo-hr-e1467427502781.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=140]http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/544029350-brandon-nimmo-of-the-new-york-mets-in-action-against.jpg?v=2&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=X7WJLa88Cweo9HktRLaNXiLi0LGkJbxxf6o2soIUfN2_EIKHKg5Uw4PFOd0mMZOz0&b=NTA=[/fimg] [fimg=285]https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ0CBJM0yR3-7dGFT6czyQjmnxv6vkFPg7KppSsyMI9QXV_jMGT[/fimg] [fimg=160]http://interactive.nydailynews.com/poll/keep-em-dump-em/mets-2017/img/brandon_nimmo.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=305]https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/RgzK6ydj5-C3j2uttirtnTsGZS4=/0x0:3715x2477/1200x800/filters:focal(2262x820:2856x1414)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/58350359/853056728.jpg.0.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=235]http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Brandon+Nimmo+Chicago+Cubs+v+New+York+Mets+sFXBkqVK27Hl.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=320]https://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2017/09/11/images/mlbf_1822603683_th_45.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=260]http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/new-york-mets-outfield-brandon-nimmo-makes-a-diving-catch-during-a-picture-id855384828?k=6&m=855384828&s=612x612&w=0&h=hxVdXFAyMEIHGa2o7lM28JmyxhY2_wbX94iRC1N_JQw=[/fimg] [fimg=120]http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2016/0627/r96709_400x600_2-3.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=301]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DN9N-xgUIAA5wQq.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=186]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DSBJFI5VQAExJzp.jpg[/fimg] [fimg=213]https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/946121174869618688/hVzm9cF3.jpg[/fimg]Know what's fun? smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 I'm a bit concerned he's already had his best month of the season. I'll say .260/.350/.430, which is more than good enough for a fourth outfielder.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 He's one of the few I'm bullish on with little reservation.Something like .290/.386/.425, with runzzz galore and decent-if-not Lagares-ian D.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 #6 in the 2018 CPF Rankings Project, Nimmo jerseys do well this year.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 110 games. 19 HR. .270/.380/.440 2.9 fWAR. solid defense in mostly center. Gets 2 games at first for some reason. Somehow becomes 'clutch' and bats .399 with RISP.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 SNY promo is touting next game as "Brandon Nimmo and the Mets" taking on the Rockies.Wasn't expecting that.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 With a 1.013 OPS, he's like XXXIMMO these days.....
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 “With Brandon Nimmo in right field, we just didn’t feel we had a need there,†Alderson said at the Winter Meetings.Maybe he wasn't joking.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Nimmo clearly is not leaving the lineup when (if) Cespedes returns. What's the most likely scenario?Nimmo to right, Bruce to first, Smith to Vegas/bench?Nimmo to right, Bruce to DL for lingering back/plantar issues?Nimmo to center, Conforto to right, and either of the Bruce scenarios?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 I think Nimmo's a better CF. Move Conforto to RF if he keeps hitting. If he goes into a funk again send him to Vegas. Bruce can get some time between RF and first, but I think what he really needs is a trip to the DL.And my feeling is that Cespedes is nowhere near returning. The constant here is that Nimmo must play virtually every day. The more he plays the better he gets.

I meant by summer, clearly.I'm still baffled by the Bruce acquisition, as it clearly showed no trust in Nimmo, despite being an Alderson draftee. It's hard to say "oops, you're a 4th OFer now" to a guy you gave 3/39 to like Bruce. but the obvious move is Bruce DL, since he's very clearly hampered by like 30-40 feet on all fly balls by all the nagging injuries.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 I took the Bruce signing as a move made with the knowledge that Conforto wasn't officially expected until May 1, and with Céspedes history as well, and uncertainly at first, redundancy could be helpful. That doesn't explain the marginalization of Nimmo during the first month however. When all were allegedly healthy, they should have rotated the the bench time around, instead of giving most of it to the Bran. It's part of why I think the team doesn't have a talent shortfall, but a philosophy shortfall. But they've won three straight, they're playing more aggressively, and Nimmo is out there every day, so I'll give it a rest.

Because I clearly remember predicting that Nimmo would have an OPS over 1.000, along with only Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, JD Martinez and FFF. I remember thinking his OB was a real plus and it would be 12 points higher than Jose Altuve's. Totally knew he would be outslugging Manny Machado, Aaron Judge, Paul Goldschmidt, Nelson Cruz, and Giancarlo Stanton. I knew he'd eclipse that last guy buy over 100 points. Knew he'd lead the team in steals, triples, and play great defense.
