A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Mets sign AJ Griffin to minor league deal to fill the long-haired, bearded ginger role. Was decidedly terrible last year, but could be a good depth signing as he was one a reliable mid-rotation dude. Whatchoo say?https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/mets-sign-a-j-griffin-to-minor-league-deal.html

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Man, that sure gets the pitching staff's salad factor back up.With deGrom and McGowan shedding their locks, things were getting dangerously straight-laced. A.J. instantly looks like the Met most likely to have an LSD lab in his basement.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 also he's neither part Lion or part Eagle.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I don't think I'm familiar with AJ Griffin. I saw this thread title, and thought of Alfredo Griffin, who happens to be a different person.Alfredo is 60 years old now, and hasn't played a big league game since 1993, so I suppose it's unlikely that he'll ever play for the Mets.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I had the pleasure of attending Chris Flexen's first major league win, at Citi Field, last August 8. The Mets pinned the loss on A.J. Griffin, who was a late insert as starter, replacing Andrew Cashner. I remember being delighted the Mets were facing someone who, in several ways, looked like one of their 2017 starting pitchers. And now he's only a phone call and five-hour flight away.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 I completely missed this signing, I think, or already forgot it, but he's starting today's game
