Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Seems like the signing happened two weeks ago but I'm just hearing about it now. The Mets are indeed off the Pill as 2017's passenger side airbag, Tyler Pill, has signed a minor league deal with Arizona.Tyler goes west with a an 0-3 record and the sort of walk rate that results in an 0-3 record.[fimg=450:em8lj0d9]https://metsmerizedonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/tyler-pill.jpg[/fimg:em8lj0d9]METS ALL-TIME TYLER RANKING[*:em8lj0d9]Clippard[/*:m:em8lj0d9][*:em8lj0d9]Walker[/*:m:em8lj0d9][*:em8lj0d9]Pill[/*:m:em8lj0d9][*:em8lj0d9]Yates[/*:m:em8lj0d9][/list:o:em8lj0d9]

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I remember looking forward to his call up only because he seemed to be the best starter at Las Vegas. I don't think anyone expected him to be the next in the line of Harvey/Wheeler/deGrom/Syndergaard/Matz, and he certainly wasn't. But I'm sure we were hoping that he would provide more than he did. What an awful season 2017 was.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 Took the loss in his first appearance on a walkoff after coming on in extras. Not an ideal way to make a debut. He didn't give up the walkoff (Edgin did), but it was his baserunner. He then replaced a struggling Rafael Montero in the rotation. Jay Bruce paid the fates back by winning that one with a walkoff hit, long after Pilly was out of the game. The walkoff bug stuck with him, when his season ended with walkoff elbow surgery in late August.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Tyler Pill took Zack Wheeler's start in Spring Training 2015 when Zack was feeling something that wound up keeping him out for the next two years. When Zack went on the DL at the beginning of a West Coast swing in July, the Mets called up Pill. Wheeler would be out for the remainder of the year. Thus, we can infer Pill was not good for what ailed Zack.
