Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Pretty much sucked last year. And might have been lucky the year before, having a 1.28 WHIP that would suggest a higher ERA than 2.42.Throws hard though, and has a good sinker. I say we try him out in the pen. Maybe we can Wade Davis this guy. Besides, that "too cool for school" attitude I find annoying could be exactly what he needs as a reliever. Also, we are not going to have room for him in the rotation once we get Ohtani and Darvish.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 He wasn't as good as he looked in 2016, but like every other Mets pitcher this year, he was too hurt to get a good gauge of his real value. The pen needs help, and I do think the Mets should add a starter to what they already have. He'd need to compete for a bullpen spot, but I think he has a good chance of landing one.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I got the impression Terry didn't like his attitude and there may have been concerns about his conditioning and readiness. It's clear that Sandy would have preferred he stay in Vegas for longer than he did as a kind of punishment but the injury situation threw everything out of whack.I hope he learned something last year since he's got good stuff and is capable of helping a good team, I think.
