  1. New day, new hints added above.

The more they try to conserve and limit pitchers, the more they seem to get hurt and need season-ending surgeries. I remember when it was 120, obviously. That seemed like a good standard. I wish it was a fad. It's closer to a rule from where I sit. I just don't know why they stick to it like it is the be-all, end-all. There is absolutely no flexibility. That's what gets me. If a guy is having a good game and has something left in the tank ... why not keep a good thing going? Speaking of keeping a good thing going, here's hoping for an easy 6th.

  4. Good opportunity for a double play. I'm not Conforto-ble with this guy up.
  5. Platoon him with all three.* Or bump Stewart from DH and make Taylor the DH. Taylor's been a starter in the past, Stewart is a consummate backup/Quadruple-A guy who will likely falter soon enough.** *(I'm being tongue in cheek) **(I'm being more serious)
  6. A couple of clues. 4 western names remain. There is a Masahide. There's also this guy. Pitched 9 years on the bigs. Third all time in appearances for JBMLB. A little hurt we've forgotten him. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/licensed-image?q=tbn:ANd9GcRD2kkTZ4hFD5a-VKG0MXQLDQFdA9OIE23MtVrZqxLOfAyKY3Wzq6fMaibu6H81RRKJY2li_0NAWEr2F24> I cheated and looked up the rest of the guys I didn't know. This one I should have guessed.
  7. There was another big guy signed this year by the Padres I think. Very good reliever in Japan. Anyway, Kenshin Kawakami, Micheal Nakamura, Akinori Iwamura, Munanori Kawasaki. There was a Masahide, but I don't recall the last name. Wanna say there was a Rangers pitcher that we're missing, too, from the past few years. He was older.
  8. Desi Relaford is correct! Well done. A new question has been added. 1. Before a game in June 2011, when was the only other Mets game to end on a hit by pitch with the Mets winning? Hint: The date could be considered a combination of Ron Swoboda's number and Mike Baxter's number. The year was one in which the Mets went 72-90. Hint: The date could also be considered a combination of Francisco Alvarez's number and David Peterson's number. The year was one in which the Mets were managed by Jeff Torborg. Hint: The date could also be considered a combination of the number of doubles David Wright hit in 2005 (and 2007, and 2008) and the number of shutouts RA Dickey threw in 2012. That year, Bobby Bonilla led the team with 19 dingers. Hint: On that date in Mets history (though not the year), the Mets won their first game ever. That year, Sid Fernandez led the club with 14 wins. Hint: Might also be considered a combination of Ron Hodges' number and Bud Harrelson's number. That year, Bobby Bonilla and Eddie Murray debuted for the team. --originally posted by "m8644" 2. I got the first Met save that year I thought my career was gonna soar But then I had a few bad outings And the Mets showed me the door Who am I? Hint: Pitched for the Mets in 2011. Hint: Nicknamed "Grande Rojo." --originally posted by "Joe Rigatoni" 3. Hey you guys, remember me? The sixth round pick in seventy - seven? Or was it eight? The first I say, with no debate Well, NY was the only team That I'd fulfill my big league dream I was a pitcher of relief In my stay, so very brief Who am I? Hint: Played for the Mets from 1982 to 1984. 4. I appeared in exactly as many games For the Mets as I had at-bats with them Striking out over half the time, though It's no secret I was never thought of as a gem. Which Met am I? Hint: Played for the Mets in 1995. --originally posted by "milladrive" 5. I played from '71 to '74. After that, they said, "no more." I played hard, busted my arse But was traded for a guy name Scarce Who am I? Hint: Debuted for the Mets in 1971. Running tally of correct guessers: Johnny Lunchbucket: 90 Edgy MD: 86 stevejrogers: 56 batmagadanleadoff: 25 DocTee: 9 metsmarathon: 9 Benjamin Grimm: 5 MFS62: 4 Marshmallowmilkshake: 1 The Hot Corner: 1
  9. Can we just dump all the rest we can think of? Or are we still doing the 1 per post rule?
  10. ^^ that's who I'm trying to figure out!! I keep thinking Hideki Okajima, who was a Red Sox reliever, but that's not it.
  11. Alvarado and Heidemann are correct! Well done. Two new questions have been added. 1. I was a runner on first base When Piazza hit his post-9/11 blast I have the same first name as a TV icon Someone who gives us memories of the past Who am I? Hint: Stayed the Mets just one year, 2001. --originally posted by "Joe Rigatoni" 3. 13. Kei Igawa's the Yankee, I've been holding off on him. I have a handful more in my reservoir, but the ranks are thinning. There's a few more after that I remember the first or last name of, or can describe, at least. One I'm having trouble with is a big name that is at the tip of my tongue. He played for the Red Sox, Orioles and I think he finished his career with the Cubs. A reliever, had some low-ERA seasons. I wanna say he played like 49 games his final year. I know all that but I can't even remember his name.
  14. This could get exciting.
  15. Walker was doing rather well at Triple-A.
  16. No one better to have at the plate than Alonso.
  17. They're on the board, at least.
  18. Alvarez gets hurt and the Mets turn for the worse, apparently.
