  1. I don't like "violations" in baseball. Violations are for foofy sports like soccer. Something about there being "violations" in this sport just doesn't sit right. I've never heard the term violation used in soccer. Maybe US soccer ball it is, certainly not in the games I watch have I ever heard a commentator use it No, just the general sentiment of there being "violations." Not necessarily the word being used. We're not dealing in traffic tickets, we're dealing with sports. Violations in sports seem a little too ... bureaucratic.

  3. Houser doing just as well as we could expect so far!
  4. Pat Mahomes is correct! 1. In a year that the Mets made the postseason the Mets actually had a player on their team who played in 7 games during the regular season but did not have an at bat, or any runs scored, or any stolen bases, and didn't even make a play on the field. He played in the field during those 7 games but never had a ball hit to him when he played in the field. Who is this player? (I didn't want to give the year because then it might have been too easy to find out.) Hint: Played for the Mets in 1999. --originally posted by "Joe Rigatoni" 2. Which one-time Met threw the wild pitch that helped force a 163rd regular season game, a one game playoff against the Reds? --originally posted by "VIBaseball" 3. What ex-Met is the only player in major league history to hit at least one home run in each of the first 16 innings in a game at any time in his career? (not all in the same game, didn't hit them all with the Mets) --originally posted by "Joe Rigatoni" 4. Before a game in June 2011, when was the only other Mets game to end on a hit by pitch with the Mets winning? --originally posted by "m8644" 5. On two occasions in Mets history the Mets have had two players with the same first and last name being teammates for one year. Please name the sets of same-named teammates. And please name me the year that it happened on both occasions as well. --originally posted by "Joe Rigatoni" Running tally of correct guessers: Johnny Lunchbucket: 81 Edgy MD: 80 stevejrogers: 55 batmagadanleadoff: 23 DocTee: 9 metsmarathon: 8 Benjamin Grimm: 5 MFS62: 3 Marshmallowmilkshake: 1 The Hot Corner: 1
  5. I'm not saying this just because they're associated with the Yankees, but the Yankees' broadcasting team is the worst I think I've ever heard. I had no idea Sterling was 85. When did that happen?
  6. Paul Maholm is correct! Alex Ochoa is correct! Pat Mahomes is correct! Three new questions have been added. 1. Which Met had the most wins in a single season without a loss? Hint: He spent the plurality of his career with the Twins. Hint: Hit .313 in 16 ABs in 1999. Hint: Was once involved in this trade: "Traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later. The Boston Red Sox sent Brian Looney (December 17, 1996) to the Minnesota Twins to complete the trade." --originally posted by "VIBaseball" 2. 7. More like "meh"-mories. Of Danny "Meh"-ndick. Because that's what Mendick was..."meh." He rode the coattails of a .289 2022 to get 65 at-bats from NY in 2023. Born in the city of my birth, Rochester. Played alongside fellow western/upstate/Finger Lakes* New Yorker Tim LoCastro. *(what defines the region seems to depend on who you ask) Oh yeah, I forgot I started this thread.
  8. .255 with 26 home runs, 79 RBI, 23 steals and a new hair color by June.
  9. Average out 2022 and 2023 and that's what you'll get for 2024: 102 G, 10 HR, 46 RBI, 21 SB*, .274/.328/.410 *he stole 24 bags last year?!?!?!
  10. =MFS62 post_id=150437 time=1712070015 user_id=60] 9-9 with a Houser-like 4.00 ERA. Later
  11. He'll hit .128 in a brief September call-up.
  12. New day, new hints added above. There's not much more I can give for #1!

  14. His time with the Mets will be his last name. .221 in 68 ABs.
  15. I remember when I thought his signing was a dumb one.
  16. Mets pitchers K'd 14 Royals today. Well done!
  17. I can't believe Chris Stratton is still playing. I assumed his career ended five or six years ago. What's even crazier is he's played each year since 2016, not disappeared in the minors or overseas and come back.
  18. =Cowtipper post_id=151876 time=1713127151 user_id=166] Bader is going to hit a grand slam.
  19. Bader is going to hit a grand slam.
  20. Butto is the best #70 the Mets have ever had.
  21. He was a late bloomer who looked like he got lucky with a standout year with the Rays in 2022. So I was very impressed with his 2023 performance with the Mets. Unfortunately I don't think he'll be able to repeat that dominance three years in a row, however I don't think he'll completely collapse. 65 G, 4.00 ERA, 5-3 W-L.

  23. He was downright svelte!
