  1. Shake Shack - sounds promising.
  2. So to sum up - Billy I think is at least as 'bad' (or good) as 'Mando was. Interesting because while there are fans that are upset with Wags right now I don't sense a wholesale movement to burn his Alpaca farm down like there seemed to be with Benitez. I'd really rather think that its not a racist thing and more like a 'Well, I guess that's just what you have to expect from a closer' kind of realization. Or maybe he has to blow some more Big Games...?
  3. "Forward by CASEY STENGEL" I can only imagine... "Well, Yogi's a good ballplayer and knows what it takes to be a good ballplayer and I know Yogi and he knows that being a good ballplayer is good and the book here is a book that tells you that Yogi knows how to be a good ballplayer..."
  4. Of course Mr. Wolf. We meant no disrespect...

  8. Made up 5 games in 6 days. Yowzer.

  10. Read it over the weekend. Doesn't specifically mention him but you can glean a bit more of what the Mets and Peterson might've been thinking when they dealt Kazmir.
  11. Interesting t-shirt for sale. The Deadwood Mets were charter members of the Black Hills League. They lasted two years, and disbanded when the league itself disbanded after the 1892 season I like the shirt but did this team really exist? And if they did, why would a team in 19th century South Dakota call themselves 'The Mets'? From what I know about Deadwood (from the HBO Series of course!) they'd more likely call themselves 'The Fucking Fuck Yous!' Seems odd.
  12. The mole's name is Enrique by the way.
  13. I used to read biographies of players. Sandy Koufax was my fave and I also read one on Willie Mays and Jackie Robinson. I read in the newspaper one day that Johnny Bench was going to be signing copies of his autobiography, 'Catch You Later', in Macy's at Herald Square. I cut school that day to go get one. I still have it and he signed it 'To Nick, catch you later, Johnny Bench' It's great, he has the neatest handwriting and signature. In the book he writes that as a kid he practiced his autograph in case he became famous.

He also seems streakier to me than most. This is pretty much the impetus for the thread, the degree of the drama of Billy's meltdowns and the streakiness. Save 20 in a row, blow 5 in a row, save 12 in a row, blow 4 in a row...
  15. It's for acid reflux wise guy. I'll die an old man with all my own hair. Suckas.
  16. Or not. I was not an Armando basher. I bought what Centerfield was selling. I'm not a Wagner basher either. I appreciate the difficulty of the closer's job and realize that Mariano is a freak of nature. I know that they are all 'Big Games'. But let's talk about Wagner's and Benitez's spectacular failures. Armando could blow up with the best of them and maybe its because he's several years removed from the Mets but I think Wagner's got 'Mando beat in terms of how dramatic his implosions are. I wish I could just observe the closer phenomenom without having anything emotionally invested. Thank God I take Prilosec OTC every morning.
  17. And as I read this morning, the Murphy game was against the Phils in Philly and the final score was 10-9.
  18. A win is a win is a win I guess, but geez Louise that was a tough 9th inning to sit through.
  19. Gary just said MRI of Church's neck and head came back negative.
  20. On the radio earlier, Hagen (Hagin?) was talking about Rollins playing deep on the outfield grass and as he moved in - to the dirt I'm sure - he said that Rollins was now on 'the skin of the infield'. I've never heard that term. I like it though. Anybody?

  23. All this sticking up for Ollie is fine but are any of you guys ready to throw Santana money at him in this off-season? I'm not.
  24. ="AG/DC"]Oh, you're right. Stupid me. Yeah, you're right - she's a pig.
  25. But....its Madonna.
