  1. Didn't they just take 3 of 4 from the Cubs with Jose leading off? And aren't they 4-2 in their last 6? Just askin'.
  2. Cornwall, Connecticut?
  3. You had a premonition?! You need to put $$ down...NOW!!!
  4. I'm sure I'm wrong and I'm certain I'm just being an overly sensitive Mets fan, but am I the only one sensing the slightest odor of putting it in the Mets face...?
  5. He got a World Series ring and only played in 7 games? That's just odd.
  6. Okay so on the plus side - I went to this game last night and sampled the Blue Smoke fried bologna samitch and the fried Korean chicken. Bologna meets with my approval - not what I thought it would be. A nice THICK slab o' baloney, very tasty and a nice sized meal as well. The chickety-china-chicken (not what its called - don't embarass yourselves by asking for it by that name), available in 3 or 5 pieces, located behind left field in the World's Fair Market, was the winner though - crunchy, juicy, tasty and a wee bit spicy. I will definitely revisit that many times. Any other recommendations from the masses?

    BOC nominee!
  8. 'similar nutrients to real blood'. Yeah...um, no thanks.
  9. That's right - Manny had the fertility drug excuse too. Now I remember - it later came out that taking those types of drugs is either typical when a steroid user comes off a cycle or to mask the 'roids or some such thing.
  10. 'The Groove Merchants'? Really? Just looking on my desk, I can come up with a better name than that... The Paperclips The Staplers The Binders The Desktops 'Groove Merchants'...ick.
  11. It just means he'll be back 2-3 weeks later than we originally thought. Lousy, but I'm not jumping off any bridges...yet. I am hoping this doesn't become a Reyes situation like last year, where they keep telling us 'oh just a few more weeks' and then he's out all year.
  12. I thought I saw on sportscenter or somewhere that Volquez said the positive test had something to do with his trying to start a family. Insinuating that HE was taking some sort of fertility drug. Or maybe I was drunk when I heard that?
  13. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: And G-d help me, but I like the Tony Gonzalez bit when he blocks the plate. ) Remember the Nats game before the Willingham grand slam was actually determined to be a homerun and Adam Dunn came barreling into Barajas at full-speed? Hot Rod got absolutely clobbered and just shook it the hell off.
  14. Agree with both of you on all counts. If the starters can somehow keep this going, I have to believe that with Wright, Bay, Francoeur, Reyes and eventually a healthy Beltran, that this team can provide some offense, win some games and maybe give us an interesting summer. But then again the Mets haven't hit with RISP for about 2 years now, right? Other than the law of averages why should I think that'll change?

Part of me is very content with Angel Pagan out there. I don't understand how a Met fan can be 'content' with Pagan out there. The team is 5-8 and not hitting. They NEED Beltran.
  16. Well, according to Mets By The Numbers, Tobi Stoner is 29, so did Tobi get sent back down or has Ike promised him a Swatch to switch?
  17. Where's Ike gonna hit in the order? Over/under is 6.

  19. I realize that I'm a Mets fan and its been a while since I paid such close attention to something like this but apparently I'm the last baseball fan on the planet to find out that they redesigned the World Series trophy 11 years ago. The current trophy design, which was redesigned slightly in 1999 and made by Tiffany & Co., is worth approximately $15,000. The original trophy was designed by Lawrence Voegele, of Owatonna, Minnesota. The trophy is 24 inches (61 cm) tall, excluding the base, and has a diameter of 11 inches (28 cm). It weighs approximately 30 pounds (14 kg) and is made of sterling silver. The trophy features 30 gold-plated flags, one for each of the Major League teams, which rise above a silver baseball covered with latitude and longitude lines that symbolize the world. The baseball also contains 24-karat vermeil baseball stitches. The base contains an inscription of the signature of the commissioner. The new design was presented for the first time at the conclusion of the 2000 World Series, won by the Yankees. Freaking baseball. When was the last time the Stanley Cup was redesigned?
  20. That game sucked. Once Maine had 2,000 pitches by the 3rd inning you knew they were toast. As bad as the Mets are looking early on, the Cardinals sure as hell didn't impress me I'll tell you that.
