    Seo goes, Heilman goes and Benson goes. So we're left with with Pedro and his creaky toe, AARP member Tom Glavine, Zambrano and Trachsel. If one or more of those guys goes down for any kind of extended period it really won't matter how many RBIs Manny has or how many hold opportuinities Baez gets now will it? Trade one of those guys not all of them.

    Watching the playoffs this past year I became smitten with this item of apparel... And I thought 'Wow, that's very cool, I'm definitly getting a Mets one." So I logged on and went mlb.com. When I got to the Mets version of the jacket THIS is what was offered... ICK. No effin' way. Why, why, why couldn't they make a friggin. blue one? Huh? That so much to ask?

    Opinion: That's simply poetic, and the way it should be. Fact: In the first three World Series the Mets played, The Mets leadoff hitter in each Game 3 ('69 - Agee, '73 - Garret, '86 - Dykstra) hit a homerun in the first inning.

    Having homegrown guys doesn't make a championship any more or less enjoyable but I think a fan is able to take a bit more pride in his team if there are several 'organization guys' that play key roles. We can say we were there then. We were fans and watching when Reyes and Wright and Heilmam broke through. We had an eye on Milledge and Bannister when they were but babes on the farm. It's just another feather in a die-hard fan's hat is all. That being said though - I think its a generally wise idea to mix an organizations own developed players with some FAs. Look at the core of those late-90's Yankee teams - Jeter, Pettitt, Williams, Rivera, Posada. As much as critics like to say that the Yankees bought their rings, their fans can point to those 5 guys in their defense. I'd like to be able to say the same about Reyes, Wright, Heilman, and maybe Milledge. Hey Tejada's great but do we NEED him? If your answer is no, not really. Then its not worth giving up on the Reyes pedigree and potential.

Makes me think that if we could've got Sori for a package comparable to what Washington gave up, then we should have done it. Interesting. Does Minaya give an impression of being so eager to deal that teams know they can take advantage of him and ask for more than they could possibly get from other teams?

    I have an orange button that reads in bold type in the middle: GRANT MUST GO! Curving around the top of the button in smaller type it says: SAVE OUR METS! Curving around the bottom: REMEMBER TOM! It's an oldie but I love it.
