  1. This whole issue is ridiculous. Big effin' deal. They sold jerseys! So what? Who cares? It's the media making something out of nothing as usual in order to sell papers. I could not care less.
  2. The moves that have really had the tongues a-wagging and the pens a-writing* from yesterday's game are Terry's "desperate" pitching gambits: - going right back to injury-plagued big Jim Slade right on the heels of his lengthiest (by pitch count) outing in years - Blevins for his 3rd day in a row - Familia for a 5 out save on his 3rd day in a row and doing so all in a day game after night game during the second week of April while essentially calling the game a 'must-win'. Yeah, fine but not the first time a manager has emptied the tank before an off-day.
  3. Really? $171,000.00? People are nuts.
  4. 'Cuz its only 7 real games. Yeah the offense ain't crack-a-lackin' but I don't think that'll last with Yo-anus in there daily. Patience my friends.
  5. I'm still good.
  6. Lewin was doing the pbp last inning. Whoever said it, great line.
  7. Josh Lewin on Plawecki's hit: 'He's OUT but he dies a hero!'
  8. Is Samuels in jail? OE: Nope. 5 years probation started in 2012
  9. I don't know - maybe its because I basically took a year off from the Mets that I'm now approaching them with a much calmer, more objective attitude, but I'm honestly not concerned. Its a crappy start sure but the starting pitching is not going to just fall off the table and the offense will be fine. Cespedes has hit everywhere he's gone, Wright's bat looks fine, Walker looks like we expected, etc., etc. Maybe they've got a little hangover from last season but they're a good team, the best team that we've seen in Queens in a long time, so while it wouldve been nice to be 5-0, 4-1, I'm cool and more than happy to give them some wiggle room for a while.

We're past that at this point no? John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: We lost 2 of 3 at home to the Phillies. C'mon. One series. Shitty weather. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Wright played 3 times in 6 days and required an off-day. We knew this was coming. Why freak out about it? John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: deGrom is hurt, we just don't know how badly. He's not. I choose to believe its nothing until there's something. wouldn't you prefer they be extra cautious? John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Matt Harvey now leads in the NL in losses, and has walked nearly as many batters as he's struck out. This is really the only thing that I wonder about (not concerned about, just curious really). Again though, I think this early its silly to make a big deal of it. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Sandy has cancer He's responding to treatment. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Grandyman is batting .050 Same thing last year. And Francesa assures me this is normal for him.
  11. Nobody believes the party line? -Increased innings/workload last year pushed his timetable back so the lowered velocity is not surprising and almost expected. -deGrom says his back feels 'much better' and they are erring on the side of caution? I'm good with all of that until there's a reason not to be.
  12. No. Just no. Too much attention paid to shit like that these days. By clubs and agents.
  13. One of those names is very familiar... No relation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Mariners_minor_league_players#Boog_Powell No relation?! How is that even possible?
  14. Sidney Ponson was from Aruba and we all know how THAT turned out. He punched a judge after kidnapping and murdering that girl from South Carolina. The Mets don't need that kind of negative pub.
  15. Vic Sage wrote: A deal with Dick's sporting goods could get us "The Dick Deck". i would sit in the Dick Deck.
  16. This is a shame. Why do I get the feeling that if Jose had just stayed here, all would be well? I know thats probably not true, but I still love that kid.
  17. The Porno Porch sponsored by Budweiser.
  18. I always thought this bad boy: Wouldve fit very nicely on this right where the 'LET'S GO METS' is. Apparently, Sterling Equities didnt agree and put it on top of Shake Shack. But now perhaps something like that could go where the Pepsi sign is/was. Won't happen though right? Not like they need to advertise themselves at $10 million a year or whatever.
  19. This black Mets hat, would be fine with me IF they only wore it on the road with the grey unis that say 'NEW YORK' across them. Other than that, I have no use for any black anywhere on any Met uniform. This one is simply fucking atrocious and never should be spoken of ever again. And Curtis Granderson can hang with me anytime he wants.

  21. d'Kong76 wrote: It would be nice to know for the first time in how many years now that they didn't make a move or moves because of finances. The fans deserve more expensive opportunities met instead of brushed aside if they come the team's way. It's time to move on from that, or they should take their billion dollar profit and sell and just go away. When the opportunity arises, no more backing down because of finances. Got it. I agree.
  22. d'Kong76 wrote: But, the post-Madoff-hey-we're-broke-and-have-to-cap-spending- to-like-we-own-the-A's era has to end sometime. That sometime is now, at least it is for me. But why? Isnt the goal to get the World Series? And they did. Unless you think it was a fluke, then why fix something that isn't broke? I like where they are. Was it painful? Hell yeah, but they're here now. They have the core pieces that got them here. If they continue to make smart trades, and add that free agent piece where they need to, I'm good. I want them to spend smartly and where they need to and occasionally sign that big name for big money. But to have an upper echelon payroll just because they can, doesnt make sense to me.
  23. d'Kong76 wrote: I'm not so sure it's morphed too much. From the first post in thread: Centerfield wrote: Now it's time to spend money. Don't let this fucker off the hook. Let's put pressure on these fuckers this winter. I stand corrected. I was mostly alluding to CF & Edgy going back and forth about this and that rather than the initial statement.
  24. This thread has morphed into something other than what CF originally intended the discussion to be about but I'll just say that I don't want the Mets to become the Steinbrenner Yankees. Over-spending on free agents and trading away the blue-chip prospects is NOT what ultimately turned those '90's Yankees into the dynasty they became and we all know it. It's responsibly drafting, developing, making smart trades and then supplanting that core with the high-priced free agent or two. Or three. Which is exactly what the Mets did leading up to, and during, this season and got them exactly where we all want them be. I don't think they have to spend bazillions just because they can. Could the team use a big bat or two? Yup. A reliable middle-innings guy, a shortstop? Yup. But those items don't have to break the bank. And if they in fact don't break the bank then that lends the organization to be better situated for a sustained long term success.
  25. Geez, if I'm Terry I'm thinking about leaving. I'm old and this job is stressful. On the other hand - these guys could take me to the promised land rather quickly.
