    Zimmo!

Ah, 'ZIMMO!' Makes much more sense. I get it now. Carry on.

(And by 'Fran Healy impersonation' I mean 'excruciatingly bad color job') Verducci is occasionally taking a breath between comments, something Healy never did. Fran's commentary was one long sentence from the 1st inning to the 9th that I'm not even sure stopped during commercial breaks. Agreed. I just meant in terms of stating the obvious and using tired cliches over and over and over again.

    Zimmo!

Really? 'Zimmo'? Can't we just call him by his actual name until or unless he does something endearing?
  5. Good.
  6. The world is uncomfortable on a day when Mike Francessa is more-or-less right. Even if, as it is, he overstates the thing. It's a good thing the world returned to its axis today as Francessa broke a brand new story ... by telling everybody about the year-and-a-half-old TV report he just saw, thinking it was live. http://awfulannouncing.com/2016/mike-francesa-reports-mets-injury-only-to-realize-half-way-through-it-was-an-old-report.html As per his style, he sticks to his guns embarrassingly long, and then insinuates that his producers and/or the Mets have mis-led him, and clarifies a million times, as if everything wasn't clear to everybody on earth except him in about 10 seconds. And then the first caller magically yanks his chain, and he's the only one who doesn't realize it. My stars and garters, how is this allowed to continue? That was awesomely uncomfortable. Francesa: Mike in New Paltz, what’s up Mike? Caller: Hey, how you doin Mike? How are you? Francesa: What’s happening? Caller: Nothing, just wanted to ask you, is that a new report on Wheeler or is that last year’s report? BAAAA-HA-HA!!!
  7. I'm sorry but none of these guys are perfect and short of even having charges pressed against him, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
  8. I understand Terry's point, but Jay was right. If the writers found out on their own - which they would - it blows up into headlines. It's called 'damage control' Mr. Collins.

He's a ripped professional athlete, it doesn't matter if it was blown out of proportion, he still intentionally attacked her. 'Suggests'? Yeah, you're probably right. But without charges being filed and having his wife's testimony, you don't really know what happened. You don't know what their relationship is like. There are quite a few unkowns here. Could be Jose didn't fight the MLB suspension to protect her. You don't know. Again - I don't want to come off as if I'm defending Jose. I'm just trying to sort of play devil's advocate here and point out just how much is unknown.
  10. I'd just like to know the wife's reasons for not pressing charges is all. Could be that it was a fight that got blown out of proportion. Could be that she was afraid of Jose's wrath if she did file. Could be that she was concerned about lost income. Could be that he threatened to kill her family. Without knowing, we don't know.
  11. i'm not defending the guy and I'll admit that the system may be flawed, but no charges were filed. In the eyes of Johnny Law that makes him an alledged wife beater as opposed to a charged and/or convicted one. As I said - guilty until proven innocent. DISCLAIMER: I LOVE Jose and would welcome him back to Queens.
  12. Did he admit it? Wouldn't that then be evidence enough to prosecute? Why would charges be dropped if he confessed?
  13. Edgy MD wrote: In this case, the wife refused to cooperate with prosecutors, and charges were dropped. There are some things we'll never know. Guilty until proven innocent?
  14. Gotta say - Familia is no Benitez.
  15. C'mon Cooby keep up. I figured that out all the way back when they were in the 5th.

  17. Centerfield wrote: Even if they dont play him, they should call Nimmo up just to give him access to the MLBPA dental plan.
  18. C'mon, you guys know how the Mets do things. $10-$14 per for 4-5 years for a 32 year-old who's never played in the majors? Nothing to see here, move along.
  19. This the 'bad news' Rubin is tweeting about?
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: We have some people here who I believe are vastly over-rating Dilson Herrera's value. Yes, it's far-fetched. Not I. It was just a thought as to why a seemingly logical player move was not being made. As to Edgy's statement that the Dilson situation is more compelling to some than the game, I can only say that I was out this evening and have just now returned.

Frayed Knot wrote: they'd have to hold him off until sometime in mid/late August (IOW, keep him under 1/3 of a season this year) in order to delay his FA eligibility to 2022 instead of '21, and even that's assuming that he stays up for good once called up, hardly a given at this point. But if August is what makes the difference maybe it's not that far-fetched. Remember who were dealing with here.
  22. Do you think not calling Herrera up may have something to do with management wanting to keep him from arbitration/free agency as long as possible? Basically not giving him the MLB time he needs to get to those milestones?
  23. TransMonk wrote: Due to weekend plans, I had gone without Mets baseball for over 36 hours! This was a good one to come back to. Same here, I was with my daughter at a soccer tournament in Massachusetts and not able to watch much of the Dodger series at all. Kept up with scores and controversies though. Nice to see Harvey get a good one under his belt, I'm guessing that will do something for his kahn-fidence. Got to put a couple of starts like that together before we declare him 'back' but it's a great first step. Happy Harvey Day to all!
  24. Ugliest. Uniforms. Ever.
