  2. The 2 hour Adam Rubin show is finally on the net. Hopefully, it will inspire you to call in the next time that he is on. Thanks.Part 1www.nysportsday.com/rubin/1.mp3Part 2www.nysportsday.com/rubin/2.mp3Before I let the rest of the Mets-speaking world know about this, please let me know if you have any problems getting them to work. Thanks.
  3. Sheesh, Julio Franco is old enough to be this kid's grandfather.
  4. Got this from the publisher:BROOKLYN, NY Sports columnist Maury Allen will sign copies of his new book, Brooklyn Remembered: The 1955 Days of the Dodgers, on Friday, July 22 at KeySpan Park located at 1904 Surf Ave. as part of a weekend celebration honoring the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers. Allen will sign for fans from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The Brooklyn Cyclones host the Jamestown Jammers at 7:00pm. The Brooklyn Baseball Gallery at KeySpan Park will also feature a display with artifacts from the legendary 1955 team.
  5. Last night, Buster Olney told me on my show that he thinks the "Surprise Guy That's Available" is Soriano, and that the Mets will "go hard" on him--and Reyes would "have to be" part of the deal.He also had a good line on the Mets trades last year: Their moves "didn't buy them a second longer of contention time."
  6. Petco Park should really help his power numbers. I guess his better living through Chemistry has come to an end. That picture deserves its own Caption thread. Here are mine:1--"Of all the years to ramp up their drug testing, MLB picked my contract year. Why?? Why????"2--"And, on top of being released, I got this terrible dye job."
  7. Tonight from 9PM to 10PM, ESPN's Buster Olney.
  8. Did Sheffield the Agent forget to negotiate a No-Trade? Or, does he have one, and this speculation is nonsense? If he forgot to get a no-trade, I am forced to quote the Nanny, "Oh, Mistahh Sheffield"
  9. Well, he still has a few more years before he can even meet the age requirement for President. And, here we thought lefties could pitch forever.....
  10. I didn't see that question until the interview was over. Mr. Abraham said that Kaz's English is actually pretty good, but he prefers to use the translator lest there be some misunderstanding.
  11. Newsday's Baseball Columnist Ken Davidoff at 9:15 and The Journal-News' Mets Beat Writer Peter Abraham at 10:15.I'll be sure to ask Mr. Abraham about the "Kaz being OK with a trade" story that he wrote the other day.MFS62: I will be sending out the Bruce M. interview to you this weekend.
  12. Personally, I think this would have been a great trivia question.Mike Scioscia has played with, managed and (almost) fought with 3 guys who all won the MVP in their first year after switching leagues.Name them.
  13. Since Donnelly's not a member of the Players Union, I guess it's up to his agent or GM to appeal.
  14. As always, thank you.
  15. The missing "G" before Aybar is like the 18 that should have been Dan Wheeler's #. I'll miss the comic relief more than their middle relief.
  16. Me, too. Me, too.Thanks.
  17. That's great. I will mention you in the interview, and send you a CD. Just PM me your name, or I suppose that I can look for it on page 175.
  18. Tonight on my totally commercial-free, no one makes a dime from it, Sports Talk Radio Show (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9PM to 11PM, Long Island's 90.3FM):Bruce Markusen at 9:05PM. He is the author of the new book Tales From The Mets Dugout. Has anyone here read it yet? Here's a little more info on the book and author:One of the most colorful franchises in Major League Baseball is that of the New York Mets. From their years as "lovable losers" under Casey Stengel to the "Miracle Mets" of 1969 to the World Series champs of 1986, the Mets have been on a wild roller-coaster ride of success and failure. In nearly every one of their 43 seasons of National League existence, they have captured the interest of their loyal fandom. Author Bruce Markusen tells tales about these fascinating teams as well as stories about such Mets personalities as Gil Hodges, Bud Harrelson, Tom Seaver, Tug McGraw, Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter, Mike Piazza and a plethora of others.About the AuthorBruce Markusen has worked at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum since 1995. In September of 2000, he became the Hall of Fames Manager of Program Presentations, after having worked as a Senior Researcher in the Hall's Library. Tales from the Mets Dugout is Markusens fifth book. He also authored Roberto Clemente: The Great One for Sports Publishing. 19. Again, I used the word "rumor" but here's the link:http://www.gothambaseball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361
  20. Administrator's note: This topic was born in the "Rico Brogna" thread and split off to make it's own thread. If the Fonzie for Kaz rumor comes to fruition, does it go here?
