  1. Buzz Bissinger (who just co-authored [u:da210574d8]Three Nights In August with LaRussa[/u:da210574d8]) discussed [u:da210574d8]Moneyball[/u:da210574d8] on my show 2 weeks ago.Go here:http://hosted.filefront.com/patchyfogg(This can also serve as notice that I've just posted some new stuff, including Bob Nightengale, Pat Forde and Wayne Coffey. Ken Davidoff will be posted later today.)
  2. Well, since his name is Jacob(s), I suppose this God of which you speak would be the Judeo-Christian one.
  3. I hope that someday--in the grand tradition of Charles Barkley being misquoted in his autobiography--Omar blames his horrendous reading of that ad's copy on his eyes.
  4. ]Can you imagine if someone showed up at Jewish night with a sign that read, “Judaism Is Sin / Christ Can Set You Free”? The security guards would set a new land speed record getting to whomever held that sign, forcing them to take it down. Wow, homosexuality is a religion? Reminds me of Stripes, "No, but we are willing to learn."
  5. ]Now I've got a strange and fascinating new story to tell."This one time, at documentary camp......"
  6. ]We are working on a Mets documentary and we would like to interview with a ton of die-hard Mets fans from the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State area. We want all ages and races. We are primarily looking for people who live and breathe the Mets and want to share some of their wacky stories with us. Mets families are a plus and Metsaholics are key. Also, if you know of any Mets events going on other than the game let us know. Isn't this the stuff that makes us "losers" in your book, I mean documentary?
  7. ]Wow! You guys are really amazing. I only wish that I could be as in-the-know as you losers. Excuse me for working on my career. I can tell by your tireless efforts on this site that you have done a lot with your life. I would love to interview the 5 "way too cool" met fans that never log off of this site. Actually, on second thought I'll make sure to include a special SHOUT OUT to you all in the documentary. And don't worry, I'll be sure to let you know when HBO will air it.And, HBO would be interested in a Mets documentary, why?
  8. ]Did an 18-year major-leaguer like Lee May end up sending his kid to an inner-city Los Angeles school?Well, a retired major leaguer who had uncashed 10-year-old checks for $900K lying around his house now has a son (and his namesake) on crack, so I guess anything is possible.
  9. ]Here's one thing for which I'm grateful: I've never yet seen anyone masturbate immediately after catching a foul ball. I guess it's only a matter of time, though. That's just because the Mets bullpen at Shea is in fair territory. Otherwise, David Cone would fit. But, alas, the glove don't fit, so we must acquit.
  10. "Was it DiMaggio?"(Please tell me someone gets this punchline)
  11. ]If you had an opportunity to fuck _______[name of starlet of the week], do you think staying home and masturbating to a picture of her would be an equivalent experience? [Although masturbation is sex with someone i love, so its not to be dismissed out of hand... as it were.] Will there be a poll on whether it's appropriate to use 1 glove to masturbate?Catching a foul ball could never be like bedding a starlet, as bedding a starlet means that you're actively part of the game. In fact, you're the star. In catching a foul ball, you're merely getting something the actual players are throwing away, anyway. Sloppy seconds, if you will. In catching a foul ball, you are a free rider. In bedding the starlet, you are the rider.
  12. Hell no. If you're an adult, you can afford the $5 (or so) that a ball costs. As much as we hate it, childhood does end.
  13. ]Asshead pitching for Houston tonightShould his son make the Bigs, dibs on calling him "Kasshead."
  14. Having gone to high school with Mr. Vaccaro (he's 3 years older than I am) and having confirmed this with him during some phoners on my show, I can attest to him being a Mets fan from way back (in fact, when he was in college at St. Bonaventure, he would drive to the Binghamton area just to hear Bob Murphy on the radio). Needless to say, my guess is that he peruses the site--for nostalgic reasons--quite often, so it's great that he gave it a plug.
  15. This was always supposed to be private info. Has the Balco grand jury testimony leaking and leaking of Palmeiro's well, leaking, lowered the bar? I'll leave the obvious Judith Miller stuff for another forum.
  16. For what it's worth, all the newstands in Penn Station get Sports Weekly (nee Baseball Weekly, which is what I still call it) on Tuesday afternoons, rather than the usual Wednesday.
  17. Tonight's Guests: Bob Nightengale, National Baseball Columnist for USA Today's Sports Weekly Howard Bryant from The Boston Herald and author of brand new Juicing The Game: Drugs, Power and the Fight for the Soul of Major League Baseball. Thursday's Guest: Ken Davidoff, Newsday's baseball columnist
  18. Yeah, but will their broadcasting be as astute as Mark Grace's here:http://www.12xu.net/audio/Gracie.mp3
  19. ]I know even Cameron must be smilingFiguratively speaking, of course.
  20. I will say that this guy is pretty funny, though:http://barstoolsports.com/article/The_Definitive_MLB__Simpsons_Analogy_List/344/

Great, here I thought we were going to be talking about Pop Musik. Or, at least James Bond.
  23. ]Yes, which is sort of like naming someone the tallest midget in the circus.Well, since it was 1979, I'd go with Smartest Sweat Hog or Hippest Osmond.
  24. ]"So George, you're from Utah, are you a Mormon?" GT: No "oh, so you like drink and stuff?"Replace "Mormon" with some other religions (and change around Utah, too), and you got fire in a crowded theater stuff. But, once again, Sid skates.
  25. Does anyone else remember a collision where someone had to hold an unconscious Lee Mazzilli's tongue so that he wouldn't "swallow it." Or, was I just dreaming?
