What Kevin Mitchell and Ray Knight did numbers-wise in other outposts the next year is of no consequence to me. If Keith says that they needed those guys, that's good enough for me.However, given the way that Keith caved and apologized to the players after his MSG.com article a few years back, I'm not so sure about the impolitic stuff, either.

He should have said "I don't want Raffy back on this team," knowing that he was going to be fired anyway. In this scenario, he could have come out smelling like a rose by forcing Angelos the lawyer to have to go to bat for Palmeiro.
