  1. Third degree sprain for Easley. Done for the season, no? WASHINGTON -- Damion Easley became the latest member of the Mets to fall victim to injury after spraining his ankle during Saturday's game. Doctors diagnosed it as a third-degree sprain, which will almost certainly end his season. http:// http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070818&content_id=2156924&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym

  3. G-Fafif wrote: Though there hasn't been much payoff of late, I take pleasure in rooting for Green and Easley, two veterans who exude professionalism. Damion deconstructs an at-bat as well as anyone I've ever heard. Shawn is one of the better baserunners on the team even if his speed is quite limited (and heads-up baserunning seems an increasingly rare delight these days). These are two guys who have been around a long time with no World Series trips between them. It would be nice if each could get one very soon. Easely backing up G-Fafif's words with some good hustle and fundamentals as Gary put it.
  4. Endy played seven innings in PSL, went 1 for 3 (double).
  5. Missed ya Moises, ya big pansy.
  6. Wright picked off but without question was safe at second going on first motion.
  7. Hi cooby :-)
  8. They're selling the team they figure why the hell not.
  9. Should be in the inbox.
  10. Yancy Street Gang wrote: For consistency sake, should we do white Mets with realistic color skin or yellow skin. (Both are options.) Oddly enough, the yellow color is for white people and the lighter color is for Asian.
  11. No word yet on which teammate he beat up after today's game.
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: btw, Heilman's starting to get the, "I hate that look on his face" trashing from fans at a rate not heard from since the Johnny Franco days. God I can't stand this stuff. Nothing a caller says will bother me much anymore, I've resigned myself to the fact that there are idiots in the world....BUT About early July or so, whenever Heilman was really struggling, a 40 year oldish Italian woman (from knowing many of these that was my impression) offers this bit of insightful analysis "I hate that guy. He has this puss on his face and I just hate him." People basically don't like the way he looks. I remember in the first year of the no facial hair rule, I often heard the claim that Piazza "looks like he doesn't care this year". Of course the jackasses never realized that he's looked the exact same way his ENTIRE LIFE he's just had his mouth hidden behind a beard. And of course Johnny Franco's "smirking" after a big hit just proved he didn't care. Not sure why this irks me so much. The majority of other stupidity doesn't bother me.
  13. never mind
  14. FWIW, to all the whiny haters out there. The Mets have the best record (win %) in the National League. Go ahead, I'm ready for the comebacks about how the league sucks. But can we get a little love for the 2007 edition?
  15. TransMonk wrote: 1999:2000::2006:2007 - at least that's how I see it. I think the 2005ers played to their potential. 2007 is playing way below it IMO. The 2000'ers played about a mile over their heads. Check out the starting outfield from the WS.
  16. I thought it was obvious that I meant a completely new story with new characters. Writing a new chapter with new actors and placing the time line before the previous story is not brand new material. I guess everything always has to be spelled out.
  17. Valadius wrote: Speaking of our new stadium... What the FUCK is wrong with EVERY SINGLE EXECUTIVE who signed off on the deal with Citigroup?!?!?!? They couldn't go with Citibank Park or Citigroup Stadium, or with another company altogether. They HAD to approve the STUPIDEST name they could have POSSIBLY come up with. Citi Field?!?!?!?!? Does ANYONE in the front office have a fucking BRAIN?!?!?!? Have you realized what you've done?!?!?!? You've opened the name of the stadium up for ridicule, as anyone can plainly see what MFY fans and the like are gearing up to call it: Shitty Field. We need a name change, and fast. Didn't THIS conversation HAPPEN like SIX months AGO? IT'S gotta BE in THE archives SOMEWHERE.
  18. ]Q: I just got the 1987 World Series DVD collection for my birthday, and while watching Game 1, I heard something I thought you might appreciate. Announcing the game: Al Michaels, Jim Palmer and Tim McCarver. During the third inning, with Tony Pena batting, McCarver said, "If you're a contact hitter, you have to make contact if you want to hit in the major leagues." It's just good to know that some things never change. --Tim, St. Paul, Minn. SG: (Nodding.) http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070810
  19. I know remakes are all the rage, but wasn't the last Trek movie with the original cast like 10 years ago? 15? Can't someone write a new fucking story?
  20. Centerfield wrote: I hate this team. I can't remember ever being more disgruntled with a first-place Mets team. Suck suck suck. I have no confidence that they will win today. Not to just single out CF, but what's the deal? Does anyone member 1992? 1993? 2003? There have been plenty opportunities to be miserable. This year is not one of them. Leave the misery to Sal.
  21. Edgy DC wrote: Beltran's got to get some blame there. I only saw it on replay on ESPN in a bar, it looked like he got spun around. Were we tied at that point or still up one?
  22. I'll take it Mr. Lawrence. Johnny Lawrence?
  23. I've got her number.
  24. Great defense by the Mets today. Off the top of my head two plays: Milledge crashing into the fence (huge) and Reyes going deep into the hole. Am I missing anything?
