But it was still funny (mostly), was built around a very good story, and some of the performances were awesome. Ellen Page and Jason Bateman were great. Garner and Janney kicked ass, too. George Michael may be a one-trick pony right now, but his one trick is damn funny and endearing. I've listened to the soundtrack now and think some of the songs (I'm thinking mostly of that Kimya Dawson girl) were quirky and just the kind of shit a 16-year old girl would latch on to. That's all. And some of the music is pretty cool anyway. The Kinks, the Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, and "Piazza New York Catcher" by Belle and Sebastian. That's a good soundtrack, people. You guys need to lighten up or something. Swear to blog. The important question is....You watch Gilmore Girls?!?
  2. I missed the beginning, but I don't see it on ESPN's MLB page, can you get a link?
  3. I did see SportsCenter. I did not see that.
  4. Keep it on the other board then. If you're not going to say it here, why even bring it up?
  5. AG/DC wrote: With Mr. Met on his shirt, it was inevitable. His partner may have mispronounced Backman, but his Wally may have been the best one. Not only does his Wally hit the soft liner to left, but he follows it with his eyes the way Wally would have. It's those details that I love. I love that guy. Click on menu to get to the other ones. He's got a Tiggers jersey on in the appropriate one, etc.
  6. Shawn Green, Brett Butler and Chan Ho on the Dodgers.
  7. I love it. I was hoping he'd get around to the Mets. Though I'm not sure who Wally Bachman is.
  8. Nick Johnson looks like a slowpitch player.
  9. Why did they boo Milledge? Basically let's boo anyone who ever wore a Met uniform?
  10. sharpie wrote: Phil Rizzuto has all of the aforementioned beat. .273 average, .351 slugging. Is he in the HoF?
  11. Ah, the old 5-6-3 putout with two outs. The 1-0-0 line looks weird.
  12. My bad. I'm a cantankerous curmudgeon.

  14. Easley hits one to dead center against the wind. He's got some power.
  15. Gary Cohen wrote: And the stolen base produces a run! Wright steals second without a throw after walking. Belt Ran dives him home with a single just under the glove of... was it the third baseman?
  16. ]To the Mets...just try to wake up and get out of bed..we are pulling for you. I'm speechless. Edit: Edgy beat me to it.
  17. Pinstripes today.
  18. Congrats, 62. Shut up, Rogers.
  19. Edgy DC wrote: Tom Hanks plays who Tom Hanks wants to play. When Opey first heard that Jim Lovell was publishing a memoir, he made a personal visit to appeal for the film rights. Lovell, kind of full of himself, asks who was in Cunningham's mind as the actor to play him. When told of Tom Hanks' interest, Lovell scoffed, and pointed out to the bald big shot that he looked a lot like Kevin Costner as a younger man. Red reminded him that Hanks had won two Oscars in the previous two years. Case quickly closed. I've read a lot on the making of this movie. From what I've read, "scoffed" is waaaay too harsh a word. Where did you read it?
  20. Two doubles and a single that inning and we score one run.
  21. Reyes leads off with a double, we're down 1-0 in the third with a struggling Pelfrey on the mound. So what do we do? We bunt Reyes to third. Willie you're a little bitch.
  22. OPS (using OPS = OBP + SLG) Schneider OPS = .703 Casanova OPS = .731 OPS (using OPS = 1.4 x OBP + SLG) Schneider OPS = .861 Casanova OPS = .867 Schneider = .395 OBP, .308 SLG, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR in 65 at-bats Casanova = .340 OBP, .391 SLG, 2 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR in 46 at-bats
