  1. Rotblatt wrote: ="Centerfield"]Rotblatt, take them. It is kind of a pain for me to be able to go, but I didn't want Elster to be stuck with them, so I intended to be a last resort. I'm not saying this just to be nice. For real, take them. Thanks, CF! I especially appreciate the disclaimer at the end--otherwise, I'd feel totally guilty! Speaking of guilty, Elster, I feel like if I buy the tickets, I'd be stealing your joy. When's the last possible minute you could decide and I'd still be able to get the tickets? Does the will-call thing you mentioned in your first post work? I have a feeling there would be issues there. My mom & dad would be coming down from Albany tomorrow, so I suppose theoretically, they could stop by to pick them up if you're in between Albany & Queens . . . They'd want to know before, say, they showed up at your door, but I'd guess they'd be okay with some ambiguity between now & they left (figure around 2:00 p.m. tomorrow). I feel dirty--like I'm depriving a Mets fan of his birthright. Well, last minute for me would be tomorrow morning.....the problem of course is getting the tickets to you. I think will call only works if I physically drop off the tickets, which I can't do. In fact, I don't even know how to get them to you if we were making the exchange now. Unless you feel like stopping by my office during mid-day (40 minutes from Shea, Whitestone to Cross County to Hutch/Merritt), I don't see a solution.
  2. cooby wrote: Poor Elster's just as confused as ever. So, can you go (Elster) if it's at 8 pm? There's a chance that I could get a co-worker to cover for me tomorrow, but he's on vacation until tomorrow and I can't get a hold of him. And if I wait until tomorrow and he says no then I'm screwed. I WANT TO USE THESE GODDAMN TICKETS. I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A PLAYOFF GAME. Please excuse that. I'm frustrated.
  3. Rotblatt wrote: I tried to send you a PM, Elster, but I'm not sure it went through. I'd take them if they're available. Thanks to Gwreck's reporting that it'll be at 4:00 or 8:00, my dad & I can definitely go, and I just talked to my mom & girlfriend, who can also go. If CF's got dibbs on 'em, though, that's cool too! Never got your PM Rotblatt...I was trying to do this on a first come, first serve basis. I don't want to have to decide between forumites.
  4. Never thought of using craigslist or stubhub for some reason. T'was a mental block. Don't know if I trust those either...was worried I wouldn't find a taker.
  5. Seriously, how much would that fucking suck. Not only do I NOT get to use beautiful playoff tickets, but now I'm paying $220 for this tease.
  6. ]trying to give the guy on the phone the impression I was calling from a media outlet. How did you give this impression without saying it outright.
  7. Bump. Looks like I won't be going. Anyone?
  8. Haha, it's my own fault for putting it on a tee.
  9. I think Glavine has pitched on short rest twice in the postseason, and both times he has taken ridiculous beatings. If I have my stats right, without those two short-rest massacres his name would be in the discussion of all-time greatest postseason pitchers.
  10. ScarletKnight41 wrote: ="Elster88"]Wow. I can't think of anything better to do with my time except watch the Mets. Well, you could try actually living it rather than merely watching it.... *still trying to think of a comeback* For the record, I intended my quoted text above as a joke. Of course, that doesn't make this war of words any less a victory for the Rutgers' alum.
  11. Wow. I can't think of anything better to do with my time except watch the Mets. You must cure cancer and stuff.
  12. CookieMom, you must not watch a lot of porn. Pornstaches generally are slightly smaller in length, but fuller from nose to lip. Jeff Kent's is the perfect example of a pornstache. Valentin's weird thing is too wide and too short. You need to watch more porn!
  13. So basically we're f'ed? Perez and Williams both get a start? Or is Williams even on the roster?
  14. Ok, so as a result of the rainout, I may not be able to use my Game 1 (now being played on Friday) tickets. Two tickets in the Mezzanine Boxes behind home plate. I'm just hoping to get my money back ($110 each....face value). Does anyone know anyone who may want to buy them? If you do, please PM me. Though I have no idea how to deliver them...I could overnight I guess. But would it be easier for me to call Will Call and have them print them out at the window?....not sure if that's allowed. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions on that front, please post here even if you're not interested in the tix. NOTE: I'm hoping to still go to the game. I won't know for sure if I have to get rid of these tickets until this afternoon, when I get things squared away at work.
  15. I'm fine with that....but if you ripped cleon the day before then you're a hypocrite.
  16. Agreed. There is nothing hypocritical in not finding it funny. But what I actually SAID was there is something hypocritical in ripping the guy and then turning around tomorrow and making a joke related to someone else dying. Distance and timing matter not.
  17. silverdsl wrote: ="cleonjones11"]OK....time's up.. Couldnt he have flown the Yankee plane? He was always kind of wild The Yankes attack NY and scramble NORAD... Yankees get the Papers again tomorrow..It's a shame when someone's fandom seems to get in the way of their respect for someone's life. This plane wreck puts things into perspective for most people that as heated and passionate as rivalries might get, it's only a game. Lidle was a living, breathing human being whose only difference from any other baseball player was that he happened to wear Yankee pinstripes most recently. I wouldn't have made the jokes today either....but I'm always wary when someone gets upset over this. Jokes are made about dead people all the time. This forum, myself included, unmercifully mocks Mariano for the incident in his pool. Guess what? People died there too. So what makes that different? Or what's different when someone makes up a joke about the fire in Waco, Texas in the ninteies? Or Jeffery Dahmer's eating habits? Is it just the timespan being so small that cleon is not allowed to make these jokes? Is it okay in a year? Five years? A few days? Before anyone goes blasting cleon for this, I hope you have decided you will never joke about something related to death again. As in ever. Because otherwise ripping him is just being a hypocrite. BTW, I don't mean this as a defense for cleon. Like I said I wouldn't have made these jokes either. But I do joke about tragic events, so I'm not going rip him a new one for making these remarks.
  18. Who's going to fuck this up?
  19. Not too many Jay Payton fans out there, huh? Besides that, I think it'd be good to get the 1988 playoffs correct this time around in terms of teams the Mets shoulda beat.
  20. I really miss Jay Payton. Frank Thomas runs like a 65 year old woman. Which is pretty darn impressive since he's about 80. Super slo-mo is fucking cool
  21. What does gonfalon mean?
  22. Game 1: Loge, Box B. Let's not even discuss what I paid. Game 2: Upper Deck Deck Reserved, but in a decent spot.
