  1. Does this man ever know how to shut up? And he babbles on about people being racist, yet he's quick to point out that Jeter "ain't all the way black." Then he claims that point doesn't matter, but then why did he bring it up in the first place?? Hey Gary... pot...kettle...
  2. metirish wrote: This will certainly get the players attention,I don't like to see a guy lose his job but I think this move could help...is this official ,because the Snooze says that maybe Hojo will be the hitting coach. I keep reading reports that they did consider Hojo for the job. Here is a bit from an article in the NY Times: "Henderson will most likely replace Down, but according to a club official, the Mets were deliberating whether to make him the first-base coach and bump Howard Johnson to hitting coach." It seems like a panic move to me. Has firing the hitting coach ever been the solution?
  3. And Reyes steals second...
  4. Base hit up the middle for Reyes!
  5. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I was too when I was a kid. I LOVED it that Lee Mazzilli hit a homer in the All-Star game. On the other hand, I had forgotten until today that David Wright hit one last year. In so many ways I'm not the fan I used to be. I have fond memories of the Mazzilli HR...and it happened on my birthday which made it even more magical for me. One of my fondest Met memories from my youth. When I was a kid I looked forward to every All Star Game. Now I tune in for maybe an hour at the most. It's really sad to see how much the All Star Game has lost its meaning.
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: My only complain is that the display is wider than my screen requiring me to scroll to the right in order to read everything. Am I the only one? Can it be fixed? I've had that problem with only one post so far...and that was Iubitul's post about the billboard. I was thinking that was due to the picture he posted. I'm curious to see if I have the same problem using my laptop from home tonight. Nice job, everyone...much appreciated.
  7. I was confused about this as well and this is what I found on MLB's site today about suspended games. Weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning is in progress and before the inning is completed, and the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead

  9. LOL...I'm sensing a pattern, seawolf. Where is everyone tonight? I thought this thread would be 3 pages long by now.
  10. I've never warmed up to Beltran. He's always given me a Roberto Alomar type of vibe.
  11. And I'm fearing another sweep this weekend. Editing: I think the Bad News Bears could sweep them at this point... Great..Nomar with a stolen base.
  12. Edgy DC wrote: Penny wearing Piazza's digits. Yeah...I wasn't too happy to see that. Different uniform, yet Furcal still manages to be a pest...
  13. Rockin' Doc wrote: In all sriousness, I would choose to dust off my glove and take a few grounders at the hot corner with David Wright. My second choice would be the pitching clinic with Scott Schoeneweis. I never was a pitcher, but the nuances of how to throw various breaking balls has always been intriguing to me. Doc, do you really think Shoeneweis is the best choice for a pitching clinic?????????
  14. I'm all for blaming the SI cover curse.
  15. Un-freaking-believable
  16. In the new TV Guide there is a picture of Dave Annable from the tv series "Brothers and Sisters". According to the caption he is a huge Mets fan and took batting practice at Shea during the recent Project A.L.S. event. I also just found out he was born in the same town as me..so it makes sense he's a fan.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: My fault. Duque had a no-hitter. I thought, "I should take the dog out now. This might get fun." Stupid. Nah..not your fault. Blame the WFAN caller today who predicted a Duque no hitter.
  18. ="Johnny Dickshot"]It worked.I know the Dodgers. And I know now that Willie was 12 in LA too. That is interesting dammit. I have nothing to add except: ] "I sink when I come to zee states that all I want to see is Dah-jair Stadium! Now all I see is zat FACE in my door. And every time I move e' uses as a chance to put his testicles all over me..." BEST...MOVIE...EVER!!!! I've never worn hoops that big, either. I know the ones Cha speaks of, Edgy.
  19. Ha ha, cooby. You know I meant Doug!
  20. I was 9 at the time, and to be honest, it didn't phase me one bit. I was not big on Seaver and I could not stand Kingman (my brother had a friend who would talk about Kingman 24/7, enough to make me not like Kingman!) I remember my brother being upset about Seaver. You're probably all going to throw things at me for saying this, but I ended up becoming a big Flynn fan...ok, had a big crush. I also was a Zachry fan (no crush there, just always had a respect for pitchers).
  21. Happy Birthday, Jose! Jose starts the game off with a single...
  22. I am all for getting rid of interleague play altogether. I don't get psyched for games against the MFY anymore, either. Having said that, I would like to catch the A's at Shea since they are my second favorite team, and you would never catch me going to MFY stadium to see them.
