  1. Billy Joel sounds bloody awful..
  2. To quote Jim Breuer, "Chicago is the cleanest city right now...because they just got swept" METS WIN!!!
  3. Hey Frayed! Good to see some familiar faces
  4. Edgy MD wrote: I'd like to thank Joey Ramone and friends for kicking 100% of my ass right there. Funny you should mention Joey on the night I decided to pop in to say hello.. Wearing my 2000 NLCS hat!
  5. Heard that on SNY TV. It was also mentioned that Cowgill was designated for assignment and Andrew Brown was recalled from AAA Las Vegas.
  6. I'm with G-Fafif and Valadius. I can't see anyone else wearing the number, and I've been a fan since 73.
  7. My ladies black t-shirt arrived yesterday and it is a bit on the snug side, and I bought my usual size...and nope, I didn't gain weight. I definitely think these are sized smaller. I'm not going to return it..to much of a hassle. I'll wear it around the house. Have any of you guys gotten the men's black t-shirt yet? I'll get that instead if it's true to size. I'm probably going to get the men's watch..the ladies' is too girly for me. Nice to see the mousepads and mugs! Waiting for a cap to be added!
  8. Freakin' Cool! And that's my favorite Ramones logo! I'll be picking up a shirt and definitely NOT the one with the pink sleeves. I see my guess on the design was very close, Edgy.
  9. It sounds like the food choices haven't changed much since I was last at Shea, which was like 4, 5 years ago. I usually bring my own food since the only thing I find edible are the pretzels. Do they at least still have Carvel's? I'm wondering what the choices will be like at Citi.
  10. Irish, I was thinking the same thing before I even saw your post. I say if not before the All Star break, then right after.
  11. I called my mother at home... she said it's the second inning, 0-0.
  12. I was wondering what was up with that as well....I'm at work without a radio.
  13. I have a Fed Ex envelope here....."the maximum declared value allowed for a FedEx Envelope is $500" Then it says "Shipments within the U.S. with a value greater than $500 should not be shipped in this envelope."
  14. "He has never had a sexual relationship with her." Wow...sounds like Bill Clinton...funny Monica was mentioned in the article.
  15. Holy crap...did Delgado eat his Wheaties today or something?
  16. I couldn't resist posting this after seawolf's post.... Bobby in Disguise (To the tune of Judy in Disguise) Bobby in disguise Well that's how you stayed Trying to hide, yeah Beneath a pair of shades But you were spied By the TV guys Bobby in disguise -- with glasses Black tape for a mustache And a non-Mets cap Then the league said "Bobby, your pay is zapped." Stayin' in the clubhouse would have been wise Bobby in disguise -- with glasses You couldn't stay out of sight You couldn't stay out of sight You made the umpire uptight By questioning his calls that night Bobby in disguise Well that's how you stayed Trying to hide, yeah Beneath a pair of shades But you were spied By the TV guys Bobby in disguise -- with glasses (instrumental interlude) You couldn't stay out of sight You couldn't stay out of sight You made the umpire uptight By questioning his calls that night Bobby in disguise You gotta work real hard To win the East division, yeah Or get a wild card Before your whole system crashes I guess I'll just take your glasses
  17. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Heilman fans can say that he only gave up one earned run here. Yeah..all 2 of them.
  18. Oh I forgot The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Better Off Dead (I can quote that movie line for line). Grimm...very impressed to see Bride of Frankenstein! Great pick. BTW, I've met Boris Karloff's daughter several times and she's a really nice lady..tells some funny stories about her father on the set in the Monster makeup.
  19. The top 7 are locked in...the bottom 3 change upon my mood, but basically any old Universal, Hammer or Vincent Price or film noir movie goes in the rotation. The Nightmare Before Christmas Godfather I and II Strangers on a Train Rear Window Dial M for Murder Ed Wood Young Frankenstein Dracula Nosferatu Dracula AD 1972
  20. Edgy, I won't show you my two black Met caps that don't have a trace of orange or blue on them. One of them has a solid black NY logo. Actually, come to think if it, I own 3 Met black caps without any blue and orange.
  21. AG/DC wrote: Carter's being disingenuous at many levels. They certainly didn't owe him the first base coaching job after he told them to stick the managing job at Bingo. The Bingo job was an honorable offer, and he declined it --- he's not saying this now but he did then --- because he wasn't up for the long bus rides. That's a perfectly valid answer, but they don't owe him his pick of jobs, and they certainly don't owe him anything like a timetable for when he'd get to manage the Mets. That's a professional insult to Willie Randolph. I heard Joe & Evan interview him Thursday on WFAN. He was supposed to be plugging his book, but instead he spent most of this time whining about this same issue. He said he would not take the Bingo job without some indication from the Mets would be grooming him to fill the manager position. Joe & Evan tried to point out to him that the orginazation would never do that because like Edgy said, it would be an insult to Willie. Gary didn't see it that way and stood firm on his argument.
  22. Target has some orange knickers. Maybe you can start a new trend.
  23. Edgy DC wrote: Batty just brought my headache back. Ouch. Good. Now maybe you'll work on your "issues".
  24. Edgy DC wrote: ="Yancy Street Gang"]You should contact her. Tell her that story. And leaf through those family archives! Just like she told you how good your review made her feel, you should tell her how good she made you feel. There's really no reason to hold back on stuff like that. When you have something nice to say, (and it's genuine) you ought to say it. I always meant to. I even wrote Henry Thomas and weeks later he sent me his mom's address. I let that get lost like I let the original get lost. I sure know how to hold onto a tee-shirt, though. 'slaps Edgy on the back of the head' Didn't I tell you YEARS AGO to contact her!!! Did you listen to me..NO! Grrrr....
  25. metirish wrote: Been reading in the rags that the Mets might be after Luis Castillo ,nice glove. Don't get your hopes on that one, irish. From Newsday: Extra bases The Twins appear to be open to dealing second baseman Luis Castillo, but they are not interested in any major-league players on the Mets, according to a person familiar with the situation. The Mets are looking for help in the bullpen and second base before tomorrow's non-waiver trade deadline, though Minaya has said he expects players to be available after the deadline.
