Said ranking will be combined with the ones we did for the previous 45 seasons which creates the overall player list of best ever Mets which is where those names connected to your posting levels come from. How do older non active players get to move up this list? Or do they?
  2. I love how they titled it "the Sunday afternoon massacre". Ha.

Did he slump because he was less happy? Or was he less happy because he was slumping? I wouldn't spend too much time delving into why he was less happy when the reason may be right in front of us: he kept popping up the damn ball. I really do hope the reason for his funk was that simple. Thats still a cause for concern. You can't let a down time during the long season drag you down further. If you don't have the resiliency to recover from that you will not play to your potential. But it could be a simple lack of maturity, yes.
  4. I didn't get to see the Mets play as much as years past, but what little I did see I can say without a doubt that there was more than just a simple slump at the plate going on here. There was a total change in his demeanor. He was not the same Jose who smiles and jumps and dances and brings balls of energy. Maybe he was tired. But I think there's something going on here that don't meet the eye. What if Jose himself felt nothing negative in regards to the contract but some little birdy got in his ear and told him he got the pine tarred end of the bat. That he should be making as much as Wright, because, like the papers say, he makes this team go. Let's see,.........who could have gotten in little Jose's ear.
  5. I'VE BEEN WAITING TO GET IN ON THIS FOR 45 SEASONS! Wheres the line start? Oh, right here. I shall prepare my submission(s) for your(s) perusal.
  6. I don't know what to make of that^. Just thought I'd share it.
  7. Umpires angry at MLB questioning neighbors, friends Oct. 9, 2007 CBSSports.com wire reports NEW YORK -- Umpires called out Major League Baseball for talking with their neighbors. In the wake of the NBA's gambling scandal involving referee Tim Donaghy, the commissioner's office has stepped up monitoring of its umps. "While we cannot stop Major League Baseball from questioning the umpires' neighbors and friends, we can tell them that they are under no legal or other obligation to speak with the investigators," World Umpires Association spokesman Lamell McMorris said Tuesday. "In our view, it is a total invasion of privacy, and we strongly recommend that the neighbors and friends not answer any of these questions," he said. MLB spokesman Rich Levin defended baseball's actions. "We are conducting background checks that are consistent with the law, and these types of inquiries are part of the normal regimen," he said. Baseball asked for umps to agree to credit checks, but the umps balked, wanting MLB to expand the size of postseason umpiring crews. McMorris said baseball's security personnel have been out of line. "We've received reports that some of these individuals have not properly identified themselves, have not thoroughly explained what they are doing, and have asked some very intrusive questions," he said. 8. Uh oh, Joe's gonna cry.
  9. Both teams don't do much for me, but I'll pick the Rockies. Good story there.
  10. 10 bucks Torre goes nowhere. I think George was just trying to assure the Yanks still are the lead story, even when they lose. Clemens is done though. Stick a fork in him.
  11. See, thats why we don't need instant replay in baseball. All calls, good or bad, even non calls, eventually even themselves out. It's cosmic. Baseball is a cosmic game.
  12. Well, I'd love to hang out and chew the fat off Tony Gwynns lap but I have Met graphics to make. I took a few hours off to watch this game.
  13. ="Valadius"]At least it wasn't the singing cop like usual. Yea, that guy sounded more like a singing mountie.
  14. ="Kid Carsey"]Send in the bugs!!!
  15. The ball gets by Nixon! And he has to trot after it! Joe may live to see another day..... stay tuned.

  17. That was a rather big homer by Johnny boy. How come he plays left like a senile old man who could use a walker?
  18. Valadius wrote: Tony Gwynn has an Urkel-like quality to his voice. Never made the connection before. He's developed a blimp like quality to his body.
  19. Wonder if General George will announce it tonight (Torre done) right after the game if the Yanks lose. It would steal some thunder. Oooo, there's one nail in his coffin. Tribe up 1-0.
  20. Agreed. Any one of us could have written a funnier spot there. Even with those 2 playing the same parts. That was a waste.
  21. If we are talking about Frank, then their job is well done. Even if its bad publicity. Franks fantastically talented but I can see just from the commercials he's gonna need a good team of writers. BOOM! I'm gonna tempt the gods of baseball by sticking a fondue fork in the Angels before the fat lady even starts tuning up.
  22. Yep. I don't like sweeps (unless of course the Mets were doing the sweeping) in the post season because when all is said and done it will result in less baseball games to view before this season is over.
  23. I hoped the Mets would still be playing now. Okay, that didn't work out. I was hoping for a Cubs/Phils NLCS. Looks like this season I will not get anything I hoped for. Hope I get what I want for Christmas.
  24. Im messin with this off and on while watchin the Cubs game. Not sure if you want the close up head or the standing shot. Ill be adding stuff to both for my own use so Ill send both along. Oooooo, bases loaded for the Cubs.
