  1. I dunno. That after view did show that holding the runner at third there was probably smart, but I think down 5 runs you try to force an error, have them have to make that throw and get you. But I will defer to Chip.
  2. I mean, Pelfrey looked like he was in a daze, and in a kind of tired shock. He was lumbering on his own feet. Could it be the heat out there?
  3. Edge, I was makin that Bobby V caption thing while you were resurrecting that Jerry Watch thread. Wacky stuff. That really should go there.
  4. "How's the game goin Jerry? No, I'm sitting in the ESPN studios getting ready for Baseball Tonight.... Dark gray suit, light blue tie. Why do you ask?."
  5. Gary hates the bunt here even tho with most pitchers up it would be the only thing to do. Valdes batting .571. Castillo did get some good bat on that ball.
  6. July 19th: Should I tell Jerry in a pinch I could pitch.....?
  7. Ugh. That wasn't such a bad pitch on Montero but thats all for the big guy. Hit the showers Pelf.
  8. Pelfrey gets out of the 1st. YAY! I'm gonna invent The Beer Vacuum and suck the Schaefer out of him.
  9. Can Reynolds play 2nd? I say we go and get him. Even if he can't play 2nd. Just to assure he don't play against us. 0-3 Snake Plisskins
  10. Oh Reyes, you had plenty of time. OyPoloy. 0-2 Desert Rats
  11. This is an amazing thread. I looked at that Expos Row and I thought that Parrish was the catcher Parrish and I was wondering who was doing the catching there. But the catcher was Lance Parrish. Found some interesting tid bits about Larry at wiki: >Two-time All-Star (1979 [named the Montreal Expos '79 Player of the Year after batting .307 with 30 homers and 82 RBI] and 1987) >Hit three grand slams in a week (July 4, 7, and 10, 1982), tying the MLB record set by Jim Northrup >Compiled four career three-home run games, including one instance where the home runs came on consecutive bats (July 30, 1978), and is one of only eight players to accomplish the feat in both leagues (Babe Ruth, Johnny Mize, Dave Kingman, Cory Snyder, Darnell Coles, Claudell Washington and Darryl Strawberry are the others)
  12. At the top lemme say don't read this with any animosity in my words. There isn't any from this side of the screen. The only reason I come here is to interact with other people, other Met fans. These days everyone going off to their own little corners of the virtual world and doing their blogs and whatnot which to me is, pretty much, just writing to ones self. There are many exceptions, blogs that expand your horizons, and I suppose you could say that's a form of interaction too. I prefer hanging at a place with others. All kinds of people. Even that asshole Elster88. I would rather we all got along, but that would be an unreasonable expectation, here or in the real world. I would prefer the real and actual freedom of speech, which I think we pretty much have here, to a point. And that point is decided by the admins, who try to be impartial. I don't care to be called a doosh, but it don't bother me anymore than if some idiot at a ballgame shouted something in my direction. I don't care to be called a cheater, but I know I'm not a cheater in any way shape or form and that I played this rather interesting quiz with nothing but the best of intentions and in good spirit. As far as the banning business, well, thats a joke. But an asshole like Elster won't see it that way. I don't know what his problem is with me, nor do I care. I'll avoid him like I would the guy at the ballgame who thinks a good time is puking on whoever's sitting close enough. Inevitably that guy ends up in a corner, puking on himself. He can choose how he wants to be percieved here by those that don't really know him, and I can choose to ignore him. As far as the "rules that go without saying", I'll just assume there are plenty of them and I hope that one by one I find out what they are. I'll make up a few of my own as we go along, and I'll even share em with you right up front. Zs rule #1: Steer clear of Elster and Elster like assholes. Don't waste your time on them. Zs rule #2: Don't try to expand your knowledge during any CPF quiz's. Or, as I'm sure someone will point out, do that thing but keep it to yourself. Zs rule #3: No need to be honest and friendly here in every case. You don't have to tell anyone you looked up anything. Now thats it. I will now ban myself from this thread. *CLICK BLEEP
  13. Wacky and wild 9th. Thought this would be a wacky and wild IGT too. And I expected Manual to get thrown out on the dribbler in front of the plate, that clearly, from every perspective, never came near the batter. But he didn't. Not that It would have served any good purpose, I suppose. I got thrown out of my buddies house after that call. Ike is da man! Hope Wrights knee is okay. That was 1) a horrible way to play that ball 2) painful. I played third most of my years playing ball, and you never play a shot like that to the side. He let it eat him up. K-Rod? I'm speechless. The umps? You see the way they had to walk thru the stands after the game, and the way the fans were booin them, and the way that idiot home plate ump was stopping to respond to them? I really wasn't convinced he was an idiot til I saw him do that. Another great starting performance wasted, but not wasted. We won. Good game. We needed it bad.
  14. "Whew, this is a tuff room" *Adjusts tie*
  15. Wright: .5 Beltran: .5 Davis: 4 Thole: 1 Carter: 1 Nieve: 1 Dessens: 1 Rodriguez: 1
  16. Gah, God only knows if we can recover from this horrible start after the all star break.
  17. "But wouldn't it be nice if we won?"
