  5. There ya go. Wright drives in another. 4-4 us.
  6. Who gave Kelly Shoppach Ho-Jos nose? Guess I'll try to stick this one out.
  7. Howard: Grand slam. Young : 4 batters faced, 4 runs.
  8. Walks Utley. Bases philled, no outs. I may have to turn this off and head to the closest bar. Fortunately, its w/i walking distance. So I can get REALLY smashed.
  9. Young does not look sharp in the 1st. Opens with a walk and a HBP.
  10. Its official. Wright wants third place! His 77th RBI put us up 1-0 in the first.
  11. That's great news. Glad you guys got the deal. I don't see anywhere at the ESPN shop to buy that at any price now. Guess Ill get mine thru Amazon. Kicking myself for not ordering four when this was first posted.

And we will root for that. But for the front office to make a statement that this is now the teams goal is silly. Of course its the teams goal to win as many as possible. Unless there is some reason I'm missing (like if they don't make 3rd heads will roll) it makes no sense to me that they put that out there.

  15. Very low-key player who contributed to the 73 pennant. We needed every game to get there, and he won eight of them. RIP Mr. Parker and thank you for your time.
  16. Davis has looked gassed for weeks and he smacked two today! Sure they are tired. Just gotta play thru that kinda stuff.
  17. Great performance by Hef. Bummer he didn't get the win. I would have had him in for the 9th, but if anyone reached then Ida pulled him. Shorty sticks with him a tad too long IMO. I know the pen sucks, and even figured theyd find a way to screw Hef out of a win (if we did it my way), tho he did get to dig that hole himself. Duda....he should have made that catch on the double. It wasn't an easy play but he was soooooo slow getting to it. You get leather on that you gotta pull it in. Props for the gun down at the plate. Great to get a walk off, and two homers from Davis. Good game with a tiny dose of suckage.

I'm fine with what he gave us last year (.268/.345/.344) maybe occasionally he learns to take big cuts in the right situations. but I'm tiring of looking for progress too, and I suspect the Mets are too, despite valuing the ability to have a catcher that doesn't make out as much as most. Problem is there aren't a lot of options. Thole's been given no meaningful sample against lefties, even career wise 152 AB. that's like one AB every other game he plays. over 4 years, but if you want to platoon him Shoppach or another lefty-masher with power type catcher, that's probably what we're headed towards. Guys like Yadier Molina (who was Really bad in in 2006) took more time than Thole to become good hitting catchers. Maybe there's something to just all the different things they need to work on? This is a very good post Ceetar. I like Thole a lot but unfortunately the things I like about him do not make him a better player. I also am tired of his lack of (or loss in) progress.
