1. Utley changes everything! Damn you Utley.
2. Booooo Q! Kills it hittin into a DP. I fear the comeback will end up a run short. I now predict we tie it, go into extras, and lose by a run.
3. Five straight hits off Kendick. Newy swings at a pitchers pitch. Breaks the streak. Boooo.
4. For posterity let the record show that the Phillies have 11 runs, the Mets zero (0) in ...its only the fourth? And that's our first hit? lol. Good ol Muffy. Wright follows with a line single. Comeback time?
5. Swan Swan H wrote: Memories are funny. What percentage of Mets fans think of the K against Wainwright first when Beltran's name is mentioned? I bet it's very high, and rightfully so. It was almost certainly the defining moment of that Mets era, and the impact that one at bat had was quite powerful. But that's not what I think of when I think of Carlos Beltran. My father died suddenly on July 6, 2007. The wake was held the next night, and when it was over the family and several friends went back to the house my parents shared with my sister and her family. Now, Beltran was my dad's favorite Met at the time. He always liked the players with the combination of power and grace - Jaromir Jagr was his favorite Ranger at the time, and you often heard the same sort of comments about the way Jagr played the game that you heard about Beltran. Anyway, we get back to the house, and the Mets game is still going. And going. Then, in the fourteenth inning Luke Scott hits a blast to center, and Beltran makes the greatest play of his Mets career, that stumbling catch going up Tal's Hill with two on and two out, and it saves the game. This was big - the Mets were in first place, three games up on the Braves at the time. Then, in the top of the seventeenth he drives in the go-ahead run, Wright plates an insurance run, and Wagner comes on for the save. I still don't think Beltran's number should be retired, for almost exactly the reasons Vic states, and because I think there are other guys who deserve it more. But, I think about that night a lot. I cheered for him on Tuesday, and if they did retire his number I would definitely be there, on my feet and cheering again. Great post. I remember the catch in Shea in front of the yellow NIKON section of the outfield wall. I can't find the catch online. Most graceful robbery I have ever seen. Still, the taking of the third strike always rears its ugly head in my ugly head.
6. There are no pictures of Hugh Hefner that can cover this performance. Maybe in time, when hes been dead and buried awhile.
7. Brown really wants to be my new nemesis but he will have to wait until Utley and Ruiz step aside. This is one horribly played game. I think that was a bad bounce on Byrd there.
8. So Ike gets the start, as he should. If he's gonna sit for righties send him back down. This at bat he didn't look bad. Cause he hardly swung the bat. Looks at two strikes, fouls one,Ks looking. He did work the count full.
9. GO GO YOUNG! Hes nutz, but luckily he's also very fast. Almost as fast as his legs.
10. ....damn you Utley!
11. Great KTE-thanks

SHaMs 2K13!!

37. They have to get up above .500 or I'll be grouchy all winter.
13. I thought this was pretty kool:
14. Goodbye ASG logo. We served you well. Hello Hefner, Gee, Hawkins, Satin, Quintanilla. Young gets center stage to spark up the second half. If Byrds gonna stay he deserves more space. They all get a blue/orange glow that denotes they are now Supermets. https://picasaweb.google.com/102387599896928448637/WALLPAPERS#5902163678784894194
15. I saw this pic of Tejada and first thing I thought was this would have made a great 73 Topps card. It was just many of those cards had odd but awesome pictures used. So I had to see how it looked. Grimm knows what I'm sayin. It looks kool.
16. Ill tell ya if Harvey can walk the walk that goes with his talk we got something special here. I think I said that about Valdesac so..... I do think that if Matt asked Jeter for advice the first thing Derek would say is : stop running off at the mouth. Only say things that need to be said. I find Harvey refreshing in that he does say and do this stuff. He's really living it. Now all he has to do is pitch like a top ace for years and years and back up his jivetalk.
17. I thought about not taking a photo, but decided that it was historic enough to get a shot of Mariano Rivera taking the mound. Added bonus - Joe Torre is in the seats behind home plate - Awesome photo. I bet Rivera would dig this shot

19. ^ha, missed that. My brothers and I had what we call a "pack party" during the ASG. I cleaned up! My top non Mets: Metly cards Had two packs of 2012 Topps Update cards. Got the Harvey rook in the second pack.
20. Got together with my brothers to watch the game. Watched Harveys 2 innings. After Trouts lead off hit and Cano getting plunked I thought OMG the wheels are coming off before he even starts to roll. He recovered nicely and did us all proud. After that we didn't pay that much attention to the game. It was boooooring. Had a great time tho. I got a box of those Topps Archives and gave out packs, which we opened during the game. My one bro got packs of 2012 Topps Update, 2 packs for each of us. He said he got those packs because he learned Matt Harveys rookie card was in the set. And guess who got the card....woot! The game was a bore fest. Mostly cuz the NL wasnt hittin shit. I was prepared for all the Rivera crap and that was fine and good, but the Neil Diamond bit was a total waste of time imo. All this made it easy not to pay attention to this game.
21. Great story. Reminds me of when I saw Buddy H at a Surf game (he managed the Ducks, I think). After the game I yelled "Yo Buddy!" as he was heading off the field and he stopped to chat with me. He didn't respond until I yelled "do you still play guitar?" He stopped and turned to me and said "Yea, you play?" I became like a deer in the headlights.
22. Without Casey the Mets have a totally different birth. He helped make those first few years bearable. He set a tone with the fans. No one else could have done what he did in the way he did it. That was important IMO. 1) 31 2) 17
