  1. Oh Jenrry! Keep that hand out of harms way please.
  2. I switched back, and Garys talking about Scully. How kool is that?

I like the guy. I hate to say it but to me he has been better that those numbers suggest. Ditto. And that's why we have numbers-- our eyes, they lie. He's had a walkoff home run, and a couple of nice catches. Other than that, what? Has he been leading afterhours bunting tutorials or something? He's had some great Twitter posts Ha^ I don't watch the Mets with my eyes. I watch them with my heart. And I'm horrible at math. You guys could be right. I always hope for more with the Mets. Whats the harm? There's no denying that hes been a spark, the type that we need. If they think he can't do what he's doin then they should go get someone who can do what hes doin.

  5. Vin gets on Puigs case no problem
  6. lol, now that was a correction. Tuff night for the master. Hes gotta have off nights if he does every game alone. No breaks either, huh? Nice play Wilma!

Still has the great voice and all, but he seems to be just reading off pre-game notes for his knowledge. We're spoiled a bit by Gary & Howie but having a p-b-p man who knows all the current goings-on in the game makes a big difference. I don't think Scully does and therefore is overly reliant on whatever he's being fed on paper. He just gave the score of the in-progress Arizona game as 2-0 Baltimore, for instance, even though the crawl right on the screen changed it to first 2-1 and then 2-2 a while earlier. If they're his own notes thats kool. Him be a little slow is ok considering. I'm surprised he still works alone. Yea, we are spoiled by our guys.

  9. Is he just makin stuff up now, lol? Has Ike done batting practice with Jeter? And Goose?
  10. Frayed Knot wrote: Vin has made several mistakes already. Called EY Jr. "the son of a former Met", mispronounced Piscataway, and then the no-hitter gaffe. Seems to be losing a bit off his fastball. That would be a shame. He's no nonsense and some may say bland, but he is a great voice of the game.

  12. I wanted more there. I saw them working in the cage last week with the pitchers, on bunts. They need to do that 3 times a week.
  13. Four hits in a row off Nolasco! Vin is concerned for Bucks wife. Shes 10 days late?
  14. Vin says Mejia had an easy inning
  15. Mejia takes the mound. You're big kid! I'm gonna switch and listen to a few innings of play by play by Scully.
  16. Love the late games.

(Plus I remember very clearly the Mets in their road uniforms that day, having just made the discovery at six years old that my team wore something different and were greeted not that fondly when they played away from Shea.) Thanks G. Are there photos in that article and if I register can I see them?
  18. These photos on the cards can't be accurate, right? Games one and two were in Atlanta. These were the first ever playoff games. Could they have done a freaky thing like wearing home unis on the road for that? Topps was usually accurate on these types of cards as far as I know. Photos of the 69 NL playoffs, esp the Atlanta games, seem very rare.
  19. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Casey headed to Mets clubhouse, last home game, 1963 June 1, 1962, Giants at Mets Pre-California Giants. The home clubhouse was still on the right field side of center. Oh, Giants were the visitors there in the Mays photo. Wow. Didn't realize that. So all indications are that I got the wrong stairs. Well, lets keep that to ourselves. Great pics batmags. Edgy MD wrote: The whole outfield ran downhill. Leo Durocher said that from the dugout, all he saw was Mays' shoulders and head. And that was certainly an asset Mays used in playing shallow and going back on the ball. Seems to be running particularly starkly downhill once you hit the well, though, yeah. I always thought what Leo said was exaggerated. I guess not. That's pretty crazy.Edgy MD wrote: Great to see a chair, a hose, and other groundskeeping equipment under the stairs but technically in play. If you have to dig around back there, 475 feet from home plate, I think it's a safe bet the guy's scoring anyway. But if I was the home team I'd make sure there was a baseball right under the edge of the stairs for quick-grabbing purposes. Brilliant! Reading up on the '69 World Series doing the fake baseball cards I ran into a story that says Hodges grabbed a scuffed ball from a knocked over ball bag in the dugout which he presented to the ump as the shoe polish ball. There are other alternate accounts. I wish Gil were still with us. Oh, the stories he could tell.
  20. Found this in my Willie folder. Mays is almost all dressed as he exits the clubhouse (That might answer my question right there). You can see the back of the silly wall. Was that there just for the batters eye deal? If not what the hell was that there for? OE: The pic must be slanted one way or the other. Did that cutout section of center run downhill?

  22. Good game. It looks like we ruined any chance the Snakes had of catching L.A. Lets make it up to them by sweeping the Dodgers. LOVE this one! Me too. Are those, in fact, Mets and not Giants climbing those steps? Those are Giants and I'm glad you brought this up. I didn't realize that credit was mandatory. So let me credit the photographer before he finds me. Thank you Hy Peskin! Baseball: New York Giants vs Pittsburgh Pirates. Double header. New York, NY 8/22/1954 MANDATORY CREDIT: Hy Peskin/Sports Illustrated SetNumber: X1617 F32 I'm curious what he's hiding behind that big popup screen. He could have added the graphics on the face of the outfield wall, to the left and right of the windbreaker-clad coachie, but he added this architectural oddity. That was there. I pity the folks with seats behind that. But they couldn't have sat fans behind that, right? A more familiar view of the same type of wall is also on the other side of the center field section. Imagine being one of those two guys off to the right with that fantastic view of Willies catch.Ceetar wrote: Didn't the original logo have the little ny too? I believe it did. I used this as the source because it looked old like and painted on. I added the word WIN. metirish wrote: Wanted to comment too on how much I like that picture. Hell of a long walk I imagine. And this leads to a question I've been meaning to ask about this photo. There is an identical set of stairs on the other side of the monuments. Are those the correct stairs for the home team to exit through? Did those stairs lead to an area that branched off to the clubhouses, or were they direct to each clubhouse? & thnx guys. I'm glad you dig that one.

  24. Given his experience I'd have to say effective. Hope his luck holds up.
