  1. Wheeler on the mound. Tejada with a chance to win me back at short.
  2. Bobby O in the booth.
  3. Tejada? Cause I'm done with him. I'll put it in the shortstop thread.
  4. From Richard Sandomir in the Times: When M. Donald Grant, the miserly Mets chairman, called the Berra home in 1975 to inform Yogi that he was to be fired as manager, Carmen asked for a two-week reprieve because her mother was visiting. Grant agreed. Sounds a little too perfect to be true. Not that Carmen asked but that Grant agreed. And then the Mets were conveniently swept a doubleheader to give miserly Don (who was an old softie on some level if the story is to be fully believed) the excuse to let Yogi go? If it happened then, can't imagine it could happen now. No way. Wait. So he said he wouldn't fire Berra yet, but then they lost two and he did? Don't mean to take the focus from her loss, but this is going to be a very rough time for Yogi.
  5. With Tejada doing that workout thing in MGIM's backyard I wanted to wait and see him a bit before passing judgement. He supposed to be in better shape. Already hurt himself. I figure at least he will catch the ball. One (actually 2, 1 not called) errors yesterday. Unless I see a drastic turnaround in the next 72 hours, I'm done with him. Lets see if Flores can play SS w/o dragging his feet too much.

He's the one who dreads the entry of horizontal cards into The Holy Books...though he once identified the '74 Matlack as his favorite ever, and that couldn't be more side to side, as opposed to top to bottom. Enjoyed that interview (thanks for the non-bonepicking shoutout). James and Michael were part of the same primordial AOL Mets board ooze that produced Jason and me. Where's Jason? Lemme at him. Yes, some cards can't be resisted like the Matlack. He must not fight the force. Thanks Greg. Wow, AOL? That's pretty incredible.
  8. I liked what he had to say today during the game. Especially learning how much he has learned and that he considers himself still learning. But my jury is still out on him. Need to see more. I thought I saw him doggin' it a few times near the end of last season.
  9. Damn, Gee is an important piece. He's gotta win 15. 15-9, 3.53ERA How many innings will he need to do that?
  10. After seeing him a bit: .283 / 33 kaBOOMs / 101 RBI Yep, it's a thin line.

  12. Muffy with a take out slide in spring training. And he's limping. ugh. Looks like he's okay.
  13. Tejada, if you can't field a grounder right to you we are in trouble. Hmm, Collins didn't challenge on EYjr out at 2nd. He was safe.
  14. Matsuzaka didn't suck tho they hit him kinda hard. K'd three and would have looked better had Murphy not erred.

I've tried watching the game with folks on fb but it becomes such a shattered experience, jumping from this thread to that. If they could just keep it in one thread. Does the CPF ever do an IGT on fb? fb needs one stable thread for game talk. Or we go pull everyone in here. One game, one thread.

I'll never pass up on using the name Warren when possible. There aren't enough of us around.
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: The game featured a replay review. Cardinal runner out on a caught stealing. Play looked close all along (he even looked safe at least as much as out) but the replay affirmed the call in what seemed like maybe 90 seconds or so. Garys just talking about that now. Jeeze Daniel. Weren't you taking grounders and stuff while you weren't playing in games? Uhg, and the ball hits the ump! And its a good break! But this inning should be over. Booooooo.
  18. Nice play by Granderson in the 1st, calling off Muffy on the shallow fly. That's the kinda thing I like to see in S.T.
  19. That was so kool those guys did that. James Preller seems like a very kool nice guy. I also said that the CPF was a great place to hang and watch a game with other fans but that wasn't included. Yeah it was: I shared these digital cards with my on-line Met friends at the Crane Pool Forum [link included] and they liked them. Great small group of Mets fans there. I went on to say great place to hang and watch a game. Basically I wouldn't shut up, lol. To me that was the most important part, to try and get more in here to enjoy the IGTs. But he couldn't know that.
  20. Kool, you can replay these right away after the game now. Or maybe that's just cause it's a spring game. Dunno, but I'll catch ya after the game.
  21. Ha, thanks Bats. That was so kool those guys did that. James Preller seems like a very kool nice guy. I also said that the CPF was a great place to hang and watch a game with other fans but that wasn't included. Well, he couldn't keep everything in cause I was goin on and on and on like I do. ha. I'm particularly proud of this most recent card. This one really should have been.
  22. RIP HOF spouse Carmen Berra, 85. She and former Mets manager Yogi were married 65 years.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Whoah! Mets reading the Pool, fulfill Zvon's wish. Yea, I'm having a good day. Now nothing can ruin it. Awwwwww. They called it. Gah. Hey, that's still a comeback. We came back and no one wins. I'll settle for that.
  24. A lead-off single by Dreamy and 3 singles in a row by Brown, Flores and Campbell tie it up. I forgot this is spring. They can just call it here. They don't. Extra innings!
  25. That Cards pitcher Maness knows where the hitters weak spots are. 2 outs on Ks. You get that one inside pitch in on Newy and he's done. METS TIE IT!!! 5-5
