  4. How long has McDowell been wearing Tugs #45 on Atlanta? I want Young to work out as a lead off guy but these stike outs. Cant have em.

  6. Even Freeman's outs are ballistically wicked.
  7. WP! 1-0 Mets Young had stolen 2nd and moved to third. Wright flies out.
  8. Bartolo hurting his own cause. Cant get the bunt down. Shame on you Bo Fat. Harang walks EYjr and Muffy almost gaps one. 1st & 3rd for Wright.

  11. The number 715 is the anniversary thing and all but if I was in charge the name AARON would be mowed into the outfield grass, not a number.
  12. I was looking forward to saying this again in 2014. Fk'n FrddyFremn

  14. Damn. Young finally does what Id like him to do and we strand him. Single & a steal. Muffy's K, before the steal, was the sapper. Heyward looks extra tall in the old unis.
  15. I can't actually remember any details about the evening but I know I was watching on TV. Monday games of the week were like the Ed Sullivan show to me(or Laugh-In when that took over the variety shows). Id watch no matter who was on/playing.
  16. Mr. Downing needs a new tailor. Braves are wearing the mid 70s blow pop uniforms. Niiiiice.
  17. I agree on B+. And he will have the reigns for a few more years before there's any chance of him getting fired.
  18. Such class.
  19. So this would be the team pic in the original 73 yearbook? 5 rows high coming out of spring training. Ike Hampton gets Tommies 20! Wha!!?? Shudda retired it. I kid, but seriously, lets start a movement to get Lagares and Recker to switch numbers.

Elements of it were very forward-y, as baseball marketing would go, but it seemed genuine. That it carried over--Aaron had ended the previous season with 713--also gave rise to a controversy about whether the Braves should be allowed to rig it so Hank broke the record at home. Atlanta made it clear that they had every intention of having the record broken in Fulton County but the Braves opened the season with 3 games in Cincinnati and the pre-announcement didn't sit well with Bowie Kuhn. After much back and forth, it was decided that Aaron would be in the starting lineup for at least 2 of the 3 games in Cincy. Hank HR'd for record-tying #714 not just on opening day but in his very first AB of the season making even Atlanta's compromise plan look kind of dicey. He then went 0-2 + a walk for the rest of game 1, sat out game 2, and then went 0-3 in game 3 as Braves execs let out a big sigh of relief -- remember that that franchise didn't draw flies in those days. #715 came in Game 4, the Atlanta home opener, in Hank's 2nd AB (4th inning). Was it a packed house? I imagine it was. I was watching on TV but I only remember the hoopla. And the issue about who caught the ball out there in the pen.
  21. I don't read these Skankee threads. It's American League business, so I don't care. But I have to share that todays Daily News had 1/2 a page on the Mets and 6 pages of Jeter. This is going to be one long season in that regard.
  22. Yea, that's deff Beauchamp. The guys in the last row after Matlack (going to right). Dave Marshall, Chuck Taylor, Bill Sudakis and who ? Harry Parker? Joe Nolan? Tom Cruise? It's doable but I'm gonna go with the scoreboard. I wouldn't have minded another team pic with Agee in it but other than that I see no point. Still, I'm curious as to who was back there. So, to get back to the original question : McAndrews still there, upper right (whoops, now in it twice), so Agee, Marshall, Fregosi, and Frisella? Oh wait, Gentry. No, Gentry and Frisella went for Stone and Millan, who are in it. Yikes. Don't mind me. I'll figure this out.
  23. I tried to whip one up this last hour. Started 3 different ones, they all sucked 4 lines in. Gah.
  24. Great job. Thank you FK. U2 Edge, tho right now that's depressing. But when we wreck their pen it'll be even more exhilarating .
