  1. This is major news. Im surprized LaRocque got the axe as part of this house cleaning. Hey, Im available. Ill scout for peanuts.
  2. if Beckett paints that outside corner all evening like he did in the 1st, we are in a world of trouble. Id like to watch this game uninterupted tonight. Omar.......hold all my calls.
  3. Valadius wrote: Well, I reached the end of the alphabet. If anyone wants to give a thumbs-up or thumbs-down on each of them, go ahead. I think they are great Val. You have a way with words. Im still tryin to make one for A
  4. Happy Anniversary Mookie! He gave me some great Met memories over the years. Even those lean early 80's. Hail to DaMook
  5. so they showed a little sign of life there in the 9th, huh? If they dont get superhot, this is gonna be a depressing seasons end. Piazza may not be back (Ill bet he bats afew times in late Sept for a decent sendoff) Floyd looks sluggish. Like someone said, even when he pops it, it only reaches the fence. He's fatigued at a time we need him all charged up. Not his fault tho, or Willies. Its a long season and he aint no spring chicken. And he got us here. Time for everyone else to pick him up. If Beltran does not crack the 20 homerun platue, thats gonna be a tuff one to swallow. I figured his 1st yr in NY was gonna be an adjustment, but he dont even wack 20?! I still like him and am glad he's here. Ill give him afew years to show his stuff before i start goin off. Ill give Willie afew years at the helm to, before I absolutely start rippin him to shreds if it is dictated that he should get ripped. But I see indications that his use of pitchers may be a weak spot in his plans. You would think Rick Peterson would make that not so, but it seems that Peterson sin may be pride if he is making wishful decisions based on how he wishes things were going to go so all his advice & moves look hunky dory in retrospect. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullett and make adjustments that may reflect personal errors in judgment. Shouldnt be no big thang if the success of the team is your motivation, and not the success of your past moves or advice. Of all the sports known to man, its baseball that makes you most humble. Do i sound a little bummed here? Thats cuz i am. The last 3 have been tuff suckass losses, especially after showing so much life in the Arizona series and the 1st comeback win with the Phils Tues. I was whitt'lin earlier tonight and, and I think it was subconscious, but the block of wood started to resemble a coffin. Im not carvin the Mets name on it yet tho. Not until its mathamatically appropoe.
  6. great info Frayed. ]But the kink in the ointment here is that Trax becomes "10 & 5" if he re-ups here and therefore will have blanket no-trade protection both before and after that mid-season date. I wonder how much of a factor this is in the current state of affairs.
  7. i got sidetracked. I see the final, but Ill have to read up here. looks like a dismal loss.
  8. cant delete here i guess. Should I edit that big image out Edge?
  9. I am gonna delete that post. The joke aint worth the stretching
  10. this is how the game looks to me, and i dont mean to make you guys relive that last inning, but I think I have a legitimate complaint when I point out that Floyd and Beltran are playin way too deep. If this stretches the thread too much im gonna delete soon after.

Nice work, Aaron. yes, the 2 Ks were huge. 4-1 tho, and Willis has been keepin the Mets at bay ,having them scatter 4 hits thru 7.

  13. of course, if Zambrano does stuff like give up a double to the opposing pitcher, Willie may have to address all the second guesses after the game. And what we have discussed here will be one of the 1st questions he will be asked. Hope he got a good answer. Pierre singles,.....that 3 in a row, tick, tack, toe. Mets down 3-1 and stickin with Zam was a damnscamwhamblamjamblah questionable move. had to get 3 more innings out of him ,at least, to make passing on that oppotunity to score worth while. Heilman takes the helm.
  14. well, he 1-2-3rd em in the 5th. But instilling confidence in any one player can only go so far. If Zambrano blanks em for the rest of the game, win or lose Willie dont look too bad. And he rests the rests a bit. This is gonna be a long road trip vs the top teams. I believe you should play each game to win(at this point) with what you have right in front of you, like a guy on second and 1 out. But second guessing managers is easy from this seat. Im sure theres depth to his decision.
  15. normally Id be okay with a move like that this early in the game, but Zamb has thrown 84 pitches thru 4 innings, and 'sounds' ineffective, even tho he's bailed himself out of jams a number of times now. And why have anyone up in the pen?
  16. Ive got to be reading this wrong. Must be a webglitch. Zambrano batted? with the tying run on 2nd?
  17. Fish dont plate that triple. Zambrano gets out of another fine mess. Heilmans up in the pen, and hes sched to bat, so thats probly it for him.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Trax is slated to start on Monday. He's not an option here. really. Didnt know that. Last I heard he was gonna throw a sim game.
  19. Johnny Dickshot wrote: He's limiting what damage you might expect given all the baserunners he'd seen, but all them pitches (73 thru 3!) will add up to an early KO. could this be termed 'an emergency'? j/k, no way will they use Trachsel to relieve Zambrano. Unless, of course, they are playing to win and arent concerened with media BS or bad publicity spins.
  20. 3 singles and a sac and we give it right back. Could be worse. makes me wonder If the Mets will use their lumber. okay......ill stop. My poems are a flop.
  21. what Im seein (Yahoo Statracker) is that Zamby gave it right back and the bases are loaded. 2 outs tho. lets only give em the 1 Zam.
  22. there ya go. Reyes ties it. Nice. I hope Zambrano is settling in.(pitching wise)
  23. Elster88 wrote: ="Zvon"]so Guillen15? *Zvon uses two fingers to promote self hurling* LOL. I'm not going anywhere, just kidding around. I've seen people switch allegiances before and they were picking out of a group of a few teams, so I figured I'd give it a try. whew. Yea, Ive seen people do that too, like they are changing shoes or something. My blue and orange loafers suck....they dont make me look good. Aint gonna wear em. Now, do the beige corn , purple suede, or black/red shiny ones look better with these pants? Or the clown shoes. Maybe the size 33 clown shoes will look good. These people do make me blow chunks.
  24. Valadius wrote: Willis is a damn good hitter for a pitcher. who's side are you on? Willis singles. At least Cairo made you bite your tongue that 1st time up
  25. Elster88 wrote: ="Zvon"]Elster88 wrote: If the Mets lose tonight I am switching allegiances. I just have to decide which team. I've narrowed it down to Milwaukee, Arizona, and Detroit. .....dont even. Hardy88? Councell88? Guillen88? None of em sound right. That's because none of them ever played 88 straight games without an error at short. Maybe Guillen15, or whatever his top number is. so Guillen15? *Zvon uses two fingers to promote self hurling*
