Come on Pedro. Your the man-get out of this without a run. Keep us in it.

The Braves are concentrating on keepin Reyes down, and are doin a good job of it. If Matsui can play to his potential, we are so much more effective with the two of them at the top. Ive had my complaints about Matsui over the last two yrs, but most were based on the Mets playing musical chairs with Reyes, who should have always been their priority. And at times Matsui just seemed to not have his head in it. Matsui grounds out this time, but he is going to end up changing the way teams try to play the Mets, if he can keep up his offensive surge over this final month. He could make the difference.

See, on the Kaz triple, you have a guy on third with less that 2 out, you have to plate that run. If your teams stagnant, pull a squeeze. Beltran seems to enjoy bunting in the clutch. Shake em up guys. But the Braves play the %'s, dont give Beltran anything to hit, and get the DP out of Floyd. Another opportunitiy down the drain. And Cox shows why he is the best manager in the game today. Two games ago we drove in like 5 runners in scoring position. Yesterdays game I think we left 8. Cant win that way.
-
I guess the odds of a Jones being involved in all the scoring so far are a little higher while playing the bastard Braves. In any case, the Mets have to start hittin. Hittin big-big Phils/Asstros tied it 1-1 goin into the 8th..

I doubt anyone could have done much better with his Pirates. I hope this dont sound racist, but its nice to see african american managers being treated equally.......hehe. I should NOT have said that. Wheres my erasure?

very interesting post Edge. Ill give this some thought.

ive been having problems with this site tonight. It wasnt loading for awhile there. I see they reached Martinez for a run in the 1st.

Thats another role that should be defined at this point. For good or bad, Matsui is healthy and he's our reg 2nd baseman. Cairo is a utility bench player. We should sink or swim with this now .

Houstons up 1-0 on the Phils already. Ill be watchin that game on TV, and keep ya posted. Because of the direct effect on the standings Ill do it here. Hope these 2 team just trade off wins and losses and keep it the WILDCARD race that nobody seems to want to win

Bret, your use of the avatar is very easily explained. Tell em...... your being spiteful. Someone pulled a good one on you (I bet it was funny, but I wasnt around then) and in turn you will throw it back in their face every post and dare them to assault your rights of speech and representation. Personally i dont care. If someone has , say, a swatztika avatar, I note it, and am glad for the forewarning that I am dealing with an asshole. After hearing the story behind your pic, I am glad for the forewarning that I am dealing with a spiteful and somewhat bitter person. Its ashame tho. Your funny, your smart, you have a brilliant way with words, yet you use your talents for the dark side of the force. Im not adverse to your opinions, on Mets managment or the state of the team. I agree with some of what you say. But the rancidness with which sometimes go after individuals with negativity also forwarns me that you have a problem that goes beyond your dislike of just the National League Metropolitan Baseball Club. Or maybe this IS the way you show the love. I dunno. Some here have hit the nail on the head. You would love to play the martyr, you would wear getting banned from this place like a medal on your chest. ( Ive run message boards. Ive dealt with your type before. Every board has at least one. For the life of me, i dunno why. Guess its a personality trait issue, where thats just what one is happy doing) Edge is wise enough to see this and you can stomp and whine and jump up and down and assault everyones senses. But It aint gonna happen. Not that way, in any case. Maybe you get run off using the same ammo you use to try and create discourse among a group of people who have been brought together by one thing in common, their baseball team. Maybe we run you off using words. I hope not tho. I like your side of the empty glass. I think every place needs a yang to the ying. If you want to just focus on individual battles with other personalities, Ill just gloss over those posts, and wait til you say something relevant about the team, which you do from time to time. It may be all negative, but its about the team, and Ill respect that. Its a shame that someone who could make this place shine a lil brighter with his wit and wisdom chooses to butt heads for the sake of it.

What im sayin is I think Randolf can be a great manager. I want him to be a great and VERY successful Met manager. All he has to do is show me. Im not asking for the WC,even. Im asking him to put the Mets in the best position to have their best chance to get there. Tomorrow Ill hear how "Trachsel wanted to stay in there and I wanted to show him confidence and help his confidence so.........."( Whatever confidence the Mets have at this point, thats what they are gonna have to settle for, lol. You cant play the game in September like you do all season if you are in a pennant race. And one of the closest and hottest and best WC races up to now. Five teams are within 3 games of one another. Id at least like to see the Mets hang and make the final week more exciting and ulcer inducing. Let me put it this way: Im very easy going and laid back when it comes to any Mets manager. Games can go so many different ways. But when I second guess you before the fact, your in trouble. Trouble I tell ya, with a capitol 'T' and a 'r-o-u-b' and a 'l' and a 'e'.

Bret Sabermetric wrote: ="Zvon"]But being a manager aint the same as being a coach, and past Yankee accomplishments hold no sway over what he is going thru now. Did you notice how, in the Eunuch's pregame show on Sunday, Willie kept referring the the Marlins' closer as "Doug" Jones? I don't know if he THINKS it's the early nineties and Cleveland's still on the schedule, or if this is just another sign of his mental limitations, lol.I missed Sundays game, and didnt catch that. So he cant keep up with the Jones's....... (I used that joke like 4 times 2day,hehe) As long as I dont ever get the impression that Randolf isnt as sharp as Ralph Kiner in his primo drinking days, Ill let that kinda thing slide. Like if he cant come up with Loopers 1st name, Id have a problem. As long as he's at least that familiar with his team. I meant to add more under that statement that you quoted, and I got a phonecall and just hit submit and left. That was an unfinished thought..... Figured youd quote just that, bret, lol. I was gonna add afew things but my train of thought seems to have stopped at the last station. Something like how Willie seems to have this belief in karma thing goin. Now I really have a firm belief that baseball is the game most ruled by luck. Its the game where karma finds its greater course. But ITS SEPTEMBER, dagnabbitt. And the Mets have a chance, albiet far out, to get the wild card. So give luck and karma a lil help by usin your noggin. By using what you have to its full potential, even if that potential ends up falling short of the goal. And dont do it whimsically. Do it with care. Dont say "Hey, Pennant race, big game, big situation, I think we should give Shingo a try out there........hope he throws the funk." Its September........MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Edgy DC wrote: Next time Shingo takes the mound, the Shea faithful (or the Fea Shaithful) rise as one and say: Oh, we want the funk! Give up the funk! Ow, we need the funk! We gotta have that funk! lmao really edge. That would be perfect. Too perfect. Yea, by funk Willie meant his off speed funky pitch. And if Shingo did get behind, and was left to make his own call on what he felt he was more confident throwing there, then Willie really should keep such comments to himself. Cuz both ways you cut it, it doesnt reflect well on him. But being a manager aint the same as being a coach, and past Yankee accomplishments hold no sway over what he is going thru now.

yea, i think we all are a lil crabby and pissed over this one. The Mets could have used some 'timely' hits in this one, so i hear ya JD. The Braves did outplay us with the glove and the arm and the clutch hit, so i hear ya Rot. If Chippers homer was a fly to the track, everything would be different right now, and chipper never just reaches the track vs the mets. He a professional MetKiller. Its his calling. If you dont keep up with the jones's, and you dont shut down Francouer (not a factor 2day batwise), you aint gonna beat the braves. If your starter gives you 7 innings of 2 run ball vs the braves and your not up by 2 yet, you probly aint gonna beat the Braves. Theres many ways this could have gone, and i wish it went, but.........yep... datsAbaseBALL

DocTee wrote: ]Let's just face it: Beltran sucks. he aint livin up to his contract, but Im not the one payin him. Yes you are-- inflated ticket prices, parking and concessions go towards paying the moled one's contract. you cant lay that just on beltran. If not him, someone else ,or afew would be eating up that $$$ and youd be payin the same prices. Blame those prices on the state of the game. Ownership/union/players as a whole. Dont hang that on one guy who just played the existing market well.

okay. its official. beltran does suck. he looks at the fattest pitch of the day for a called strike and then swings at two untouchables. That was painful to watch. Another game the mets should have won and could have been played differently. Any other team in the hunt, in the situation we were in, would have gone to an 8th inning set up man there. Esp to get a fresh arm vs. the Jones's. Trash aint no 25 yr old pitcher, and Willie stayed with him too long. I know it would be economical, playing a tie game, to try to make him last until his hitting slot comes up, but this aint April (and this aint EAmvpBASEBALL-the video game i play) and you have to do things at this time of the year a lil differently, and use what you have while you are in it, and pay the price tomorrow, if you must pay a price at all. i dont understand why you bring up arms when you expand the roster, but you dont play smart and use em. And Im not talkin Shingo in the clutch. Save him for moppin up. We had Hernandez,Bell,Hielman, Padilla,Ishii even. All experienced arms that have a job to do. Let em do it, for good or bad. If they succeed, we keep rolling. if they fail we aint goin anywhere in the long run anyway. This loss is MOST disappointing. Im sure Bart Splunkerlagen is chuckling as I type.

with all the ruckus we fail to note hernandez has taken over (for those reading at a later time). Good job by the old man. Stops the bleeding. Unless the Mets hit up a lil storm here, it may be too little too late. Please forgive me, but i must whip out the 2 demensional rally guys. UNITE AND ASSEMBLE METROPOLITAN LUMBER!!!!!!!

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH see? i feel sick. Chipper Jones hits a monster 2 run homer to center. criiiiiipes
-
now he must keep up with the Jones's. This is alot to ask of trachsel
-
lead off single by the Braves. I dunno,i guess you HAVE to let Trash start the inning. But i think he's done his job for the day and now someone else should be doin theirs. Big break for the Mets with the pop up out on the bunt.
-
huminahuminahuminaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Wright walks. Mienky singles him to third. And he just slides in safe taggin up on Castros fly to center. If Jones threw him out I would have throw the TV out the window. Chipper robs Diaz with a diving grab of his grounder for the 3rd out. But the Mets tie it. Now i dunno.....Im not a pitch count freak, so its not that, but I wonder if you run trachsel back out there. he's been gettin a lil more reachable every inning. Im thinkin we could use a fresh arm here for the hold, but we shall see the way the ball bounces. Trachsel stays in.
