  1. The White Sox on Monday exercised the 2007 club options on the contracts of Buehrle, Dye and Iguchi.
  2. Julio Franco got a two-year deal.
  3. Wayne Housie?
  4. There is a direct link between steroid use and hair loss. Poo Hole is an early balder.
  5. Jose Valentin and Michael Tucker filed for free agency yesterday. I don't see Jose waiting around for the Mets to offer. He's going to take his 2006 season and parlay it into one more 2-year deal. I hoped for more from Tucker. I thought he could be this year's Timo. That turned out to be Endy.
  6. Let the dealings begin. Five players filed for free agency Saturday from the New York Mets: outfielders Cliff Floyd and Ricky Ledee, pitchers Orlando Hernandez and Steve Trachsel and shortstop Chris Woodward.
  7. My brother put something very similar together (albeit not professionally done) of the '69 team including cards from each of the playoff games. It hung in our living room until a storm in '76 knocked a tree limb on our roof and caused rain to run down the inside of our walls. Ruined the whole damn thing. I'm still pissed about that.
  8. A bruise is a trauma injury. Tendonitis is typically caused by general wear and tear. I'd take a bruise over tendonitis.
  9. I wouldn't want B-Jays on the front of anything I was wearing.
  10. Joe Girardi will NOT be managing the Nats. He withdrew from consideration. Good call, Joe.
  11. Piniella gets what, $10 million for three years from the Cubs? Willie's due.
  12. Scott Peterson was born. I think OJ did it.
  13. Jose "Get the Fuck" Offerman I just had to explain to my staff why I was laughing so hard. They found no humor in it, but are pleased that I am in a good mood because of it. At least 14 Latino players on that list. That Omar Minaya guy is soooo anti-Latino.
  14. Just when teams were starting to pull back on the black, the DBags go and add black to uniform color scheme. Mets is a clean abbreviation for Metropolitans. Using a hyphen is dumb. I like the DB hat logo. Don't like the Arizona script. The DB hata logo should never be worn with the old Block A on the uni, not a font match.
  15. From the NYDN. I knew about Woodward, Dook, and Cliff. Had no clue about the seriousness of Delgado or that Heilman and Hernandez were knife-worthy. Tell those guys to stop playing tennis. Carlos Delgado, who had been nursing elbow discomfort since spring training, had the first of two surgical procedures yesterday. The Mets said Delgado had surgery for carpal tunnel of the right wrist, and will have surgery Monday for what the team labeled right tennis elbow. Paul Lo Duca (ligament tear, left thumb) and Aaron Heilman (tennis elbow) also underwent surgery yesterday. Among pending free agents, Chris Woodward (labrum tear, left shoulder) had surgery yesterday, while Cliff Floyd will have an operation tomorrow on his left Achilles tendon and Roberto Hernandez will undergo right knee surgery in Florida the same day.
  16. Sometime before that infamous home run, the Mrs. says to me, "Something's wrong with his face. I just can't place it. Like he's a woman with a Butch face." He shall forever be known to me as Butch.
  17. "Cliff wouldn't be Rusty. He'd presumably be able to play the field a few times a week. He'd be more like Danny Heep." With that bum heel, he'd be more robotic than the Robotic Danny Heep.
  18. Am I the only one who thinks this Glavine-to-Atlanta thing is a sham? Sure, he'd see his kids more often and who wouldn;'t want that? But who'd he have a better chance of getting 10 wins with? He'll be back next year. Atlanta is so 90s.
  19. Lugo was mentioned in some trade-related news several years ago until this minor blemish to his reputation. On April 30, 2003, Lugo was arrested and charged with assulting his wife, Mabely Lugo, outside of Minute Maid Park in Houston before playing the Atlanta Braves. Mabely was treated and released from a hospital, and filed a restraining order against Julio. Mabely originally contended that Julio punched her in the head and slammed her head into the windshield of their car. Julio contested that he was acting in self-defense by blocking an attack by his wife, who hit herself and stumbled into the car, smashing her head into the windshield. Mabely later changed her story to coordinate with her husband's, and dropped the restraining order, however Julio was still tried in court accused of misdemeanor assault. Julio was eventually found not guilty, and he has remained out of trouble from the public eye since this incident.
  20. The meeting with Detroit would have made for a great re-match following a triumphant Mets WS. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
  21. Mrs. Ted's response after watching Beltran look at strike 3: "Turn off the fucking TV. FOREVER." Two bases loaded situations and you come up empty. You deserve a loss. I wasn't sure of the Pink Floyd pinh hit in the 9th. I would have tried to get a runner over with a bunt. Willie wanted a big blast and Cliffy didn't have it in him.
  22. TL: What's his favorite team? Woman: The Cubbies... TL: Ooooooh...get outta the tree! Fun spot but it's college football season now.
  23. The old "I didn't see you coming around the corner of the cubicle is the reason why I spilled an entire iced latte on your blouse" trick was never employed by Maxwell Smart. I think this is a good time for you to give it a whirl.
  24. The Mrs. said to me on Tuesday night "it's too bad this isn't against the Padres, Piazza deserved to be in the playoffs again at Shea." Alas, a long-forgotten Mike Piazza bobblehead appeared on top of my TV last night just in time for a Jose Reyes crank. She's a keeper.
  25. Charlie Samuels, if you have any decent bones in your body -- pinstripes and blue hats. Oliver, summon the ghost of Bobby Jones from game 4 of the 2000 NLDS. David Wright, pre-all star break, please step forward. Suppan is meat.
