My HS football team wore red helmets. A classmate had a nugget so big he had to borrow a helmet from a local college, which wore white helmets. He didn't stick out TOO much. I've seen a few players using the old standard helmets, Chad Tracy I think. I noticed right away because it looked odd. I'm used to the newer helmets, just not the West Coast Customs paint job.

How about they throwback to the 60s Mets unis the way they SHOULD look? Ronnie said the other night that he regretted not being able to wear the classic Mets road uni, instead having to wear the "piping" uniform that never felt comfortable. I hear ya brutha.

Bobby O last night said that Pelfry's form on a bunch of pitches looked lazy and he wasn't waiting for Santos to finish giving signs before he started his windup. In Pelfry's defense, the guy was just with his wife who gave birth. So, he's up for how long during that process? Then the Mets shove him onto a plan, across the freaking country, and pitch with his head obviously in a fog.

I went to a Mets-Cubs game a few years back and sat in the leftfield bleachers. DuBois was in left and didn't throw a warm-up ball into the stands. Drunk down the way (Cubs fan no less) yelled "Jason DuBois had Pope Sex with Two Boys." Unfortunately I will never clear that from my brain.

All that for only $20K. Enjoy the contract, Kenny. The White Sox acquired outfielder Alex Rios from the Blue Jays, SI.com has confirmed. Chicago will send Toronto only the $20,000 waiver fee and no players to acquire Rios, it was learned. The deal was first reported by Tyler Kepner of the New York Times. The White Sox claimed Rios on waivers Friday afternoon and had until Tuesday afternoon to complete a deal. By claiming Rios, the White Sox agree to assume the remaining $60 million on Rios' contract. Rios is expected to play center field for Chicago, which also acquired star pitcher Jake Peavy from the Paders just before the trade deadline.

Not that I can claim to be Jose Reyes, but I tore both my calf muscle (grastroc) and hamstring many years ago. Bad. I was only jogging on both occasions and POW, the leg tightened up instantly like a cramp and POP. I went down hard. The recovery period was 12 weeks to get back to 70 percent just like the doctor said it would be. Once Jose went down, I really didn't expect him to be back.

Wow. I just saw this. I can see renting a bus to get to the game if you lived in, say, Doylestown. For crissakes, renting a booze bus to go what, four miles?
