  2. Not according to The Wall Street Journal. Heh, I thought about posting that. I got a laugh out of it. They couldn't even do mascots right. Also love this quote by a guy that was the Philly Phanatic: "I remember what it was like in the upper deck in Philadelphia, and that's why I never went up there," said Mr. Raymond, who now owns his own mascot company. "When you go up into the upper deck, they want to see if you can fly."

The silver lining of being too young to appreciate '86 is not being alive for that.

After hosting the Mets the Orioles jetted out to San Fran to play the Giants (with no day off even). And, yes, they lost again (18 of 21). No off day? , that's tough......gotta feel for Juan Samuel here, his first and perhaps only shot as manager and it went pear shaped in a hurry. He's got what, 2 wins as manager and he's been there a couple of weeks now right?
  7. cutting this out of the oots weekend thread to continue: Zvon wrote: Ceetar wrote: I disagree. The Phillies haven't really been under performing much. They've actually over-performed in recent years, with lots of players and pitchers (particularly in the bullpen) having career years. Polanco really isn't that much of an upgrade over what Feliz brough, Halladay is awesome, yes, and replaces the half season or so of Lee, but he's getting up there in age and if 2008 taught us anything it's that one Ace acquisition doesn't make that much of a difference, especially when the rest of the rotation is mediocre at best. You can disagree. Over-performed? If they only made the post season once in the last three years I'd agree. Polanco....only batting .319. Halladay,....your right about the rest of their rotation and I do think that's forcing their offense to press it. But Halladay? With his mechanics he's got plenty left in the tank. They have had bullpenners step up, yes. Even when the ones they were banking on couldn't do the job,....over the last three years. Someday we should meet for a beer and chat, so your close enough that I can throw pretzels at ya. Not saying Halladay has got nothing left in the tank, but you never know when it's gonna run dry. Pitcher's tank sensors are very poor. If Halladay becomes just 95% of himself he'd still be awesome, but it'd cost the Phillies a win or two that they might need. Polanco at .319 is still better than he's going to finish, not to mention he's probably a step down defensively, if only slightly. Victorino is putting up power numbers but otherwise underperforming, but not as much as it seems because he just might not be that good. Ibanez is probably going to hit better, but not much better, since it's been basically a year now since he's been real good. Honestly, I've always felt the Phillies have overperformed/stepped up when they had to. Hamels pitched amazingly in the '08 playoffs or maybe they don't win anything. However this has always been coupled with a Mets collapse, or them stepping up never would've done anything. I think the Mets, now with a lead, can hold off the Phillies and beat them without help. Not that I'm rooting for the Phillies here. I'm not rooting for any of them. let the series be 2-1 with a 22 inning bullpen battering Thursday.
  8. I think I'd want tickets. . All players get tickets to games, so if say it's August 24 and that Florida rookie hit's his first home run into the Pepsi Porch and I catch it..sign me a bat or ball or something sure, but how about give me tickets to the next day's game? costs him nothing. Gets me free tickets to a Mets game, and in probably good seats.

On Friday, the fan who caught Carter's first home run rejected an offer of autographed baseballs from David Wright, Jose Reyes and Francisco Rodriguez and an autographed bat from Carter in exchange for the ball. The fan also wanted signed items from the Orioles, and the Mets declined to pursue the matter. ...Goodness. That's a pretty good trade. I'd give it over for a chance to shake Carter's hand, much less all that cool stuff. Adam the Bull* was talking about this after the game. I guess he was an Orioles fan and the Orioles didn't want to play ball?

We use Sharepoint and Outlook Web Access at my work but they only function properly in IE which means I had to reinstall IE on my work computer and can't use them at all on my Mac at home. I wish it was just that. Let's just put it this way.. the product we use to develop it can't comprehend more than 4gigs of storage so that it thinks it's out of memory if it just 4 (or 8, or 12) gigs of space used. the "web help" link gives a 404.
  11. Never mind that the ultimate results suggest balance anyway. 2-2 in the World Series over the last four.
  12. themetfairy wrote: The bigger question is why are you still using IE instead of Firefox or Chrome? Work. our product only works in IE, so there is no reason to have another browser except for goofing off.

It happens to me on other form input boxes also --- Facebook, Washington Post, anywhere I might tediously go on too long. IE hates Web 2.0. I've taken to typing up longer posts in Notepad and pasting them in. The problem is I ramble too much and don't realize i'm going to type a long entry. I probably should just download chrome but I feel like having a browser that doesn't function with the work product is just an obvious "not doing work here" beacon.

Probably fewer NYers by the end of the week but also so few Orioles fans that they were still drowned out by the reduced number in blue & orange - although, to be fair, the black and orange fans were taken out of the game pretty early on Sunday courtesy of Wright & Carter (and Millwood). I ended up scrapping Saturday for Sunday. (due to a random coworker of the fiance also going down there and going to Sunday's game) My observations walking around Baltimore (and to be fair, obviously going to be a lot more Mets fans in the touristy harbor areas anyway) where that it might as well been NY because it was predominately Mets fans. People would ask me how they did on the street or in the hotel lobby. You could take the soundtrack from this game and put it up against a home start and it wouldn't feel out of place. there was an infuriating number of Phillies fans. (a couple of Sox and Yanks fans too) You'd think the Camden Yards people would've done their research and realized playing the "Ole Ole Ole" song when there are so many Mets fans in the park was a mistake. You'd also want to consider making the Chant "Let's go Orioles" instead of "Let's Go O's" which was always shouted down with "Let's go Mets" so much that the scoreboard might as well have been prompting us to cheer. There was a mixture of "new" Mets shirst and old. I saw plenty of Davis and I Like Ike, but also older ones like the free Pedro giveaway shirt from 2007, Alomar (really?) and even saw a Phillips. (guess it's possible that was his own last name?) I saw an inordinate number of Orange Mets shirts, which i'm not sure was meant to be sneaky "hehehe, it's Orioles colors, fooled you!" or a result of some Baltimore sale of Met sshirts (did see a blue Reyes at a stand outside the st adium) btw, why does this forum input box absolutely suck in IE? i can't see what I'm typing behind a certain point anymore. in the end, i just feel bad for Orioles fans. quote from O's talk radio "I know we get on here and talk about losing a lot"...

Just for the record I probably walked by you all a half dozen times. (I was wearing a last season at shea pinstriped Wright jersey and the new BP cap) Didn't have internet in Baltimore so wasn't reading forums or anything anyway. Got some fun pictures, enjoyed the game, etc etc. As far as the actual park goes, it was definitely nice, but I wouldn't put it above ATT/PNC/Citi/Petco
