For us bloggers that are occasionally worried about making fools of ourselves when we get the odd chance to ask a question of these guys...It's nice to know the bar is kinda low. a low blow there I think , she asks the questions the others would never ask.....her standard question is "why wasn't Hu playing", so tonight's question was well within reason. Probably a low blow, but maybe not. Every one of her questions I've heard has been racial in nature and has nothing to do with baseball. Then again, that's _exactly_ what her reader/viewership wants to know. Similar to how Swisher probably cost the Twins millions of dollars in revenue/interest from the Japanese crowd with his dirty slide.

  3. Mets new motto? "It's sad, but we did the best with what we had."
  4. http://www.ceetar.com/optimisticmetsfan/2011/04/09/my-opening-day-a-journey-with-pictures/ Some of my picture highlights from Opening Day. IjXXjvDiZQU
  5. Also I realized as I was standing at the ReadtheApple tailgate that I was going to go over to themetfairy's but I had no idea where you'd be. Was a lot of tailgating going on. Next time.
  6. This is the front row, and obviously the further you go back you deal with the overhang obstruction and the seats in front of you blocking LF. I enjoyed sitting there though, you can also see right into the Mets bullpen, even into their little hut out there. If i recall last year, they got better. Opening Day, weren't in a rhythm or something. I was going to get a Keith's Gold Glove Burger, but ultimately decided to wait for a quieter day.
  8. themetfairy wrote: Watching Ralph throw out the ceremonial first pitch was truly awesome - Best pitch thrown all day.
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: What? The first six games of a season don't tell you exactly how the remaining 156 will turn out? no no, the first four don't, once you get to six everythings crystal clear. Michael Kay declared the Rays season over yesterday for instance.
  10. The thing with the bunt is, why Hu? Why burn what's presumably a 'hitter' when you've already got a pitcher up? And if you don't trust the reliever, fine, use Pelfrey or Niese or Young or Capuano. but no, that was merely one key moment, not the defining one.
  11. why yes, I'll be at the back of section 511, why do you ask?
  12. G-Fafif wrote: Did Murphy get any time in left all spring? I know he played..I think RF, one in Spring in the minors. (Of course, Bay was still set up for LF regularly at that time)
  13. Gwreck wrote: Gameday wrote: Daniel Murphy remains in the game as the left fielder. Curious and obviously the first two plays are to him. first one supposedly he got a late break on, drops in for a single. second an 'easy' catch at the warning track.
  14. What's Halladay's pitch count?
  15. Gwreck wrote: Two members of the ownership group died in the offseason. Both had "B" as an initial. The Phillies are nothing if not efficient. or something.

  17. Gwreck wrote: Leadoff single for Jose (again). Maybe we get him home this time. Wow, just singled for me just now. I'm way behind. silly streaming via internet/phone app.
  18. It's weird how much ofa swing game this feels like in April. There's probably a fairly large gap in fan reception if they open at home 4-2 after beating Halladay versus merely 3-3.
  19. Centerfield wrote: I'm hoping the Astros hit that magic number of 121. I just hope they still look this bad in two weeks. (and May 13-15th, but we'll worry about that then)
  20. Edgy DC wrote: The Mets have had green catchers before. Like with Mike Fitzgerald. What they need is for Keith Hernandez to take the elevator down from the press level and walk under the councurse to the gate and over to the mound in game situations to discuss pitch sequences. Was just thrown out there as an aside, but Keith stated that he was in the clubhouse talking to Pagan before the game, and he mentioned that he was going down again today to talk to..I don't remember who. I found that interesting, and oddly involved, although it did sound like he was there as an analyst and not a second hitting coach. He was talking about Pagan's stance and what he was doing with his shoulder and how it was indictive of him slumping, noting that he was in the clubhouse and that Pagan and Hudgens were aware of it and were working on it.
  21. left off Tejada as well.
  22. Pagan 2.0 Reyes 1.0 Wright 1.0 Murphy 1.0 Davis 1.0 Beltran 1.0 Beato 1.0 Buccholz 0.5 Rodriguez 0.5
  23. I didn't think Boyer pitched that badly. not good, but Victorino got a dumb luck double, and that deflection off of Boyer for a run was pretty much placed in the perfect spot to get no outs.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: Ceetar wrote: These concerns about Ks have been concerns for years, so I still expect him to have a similar year to last year. And the greater concern of a career ERA of 4.41 --- his great first half last year included --- leads one to return to it. You could say inflated by being promoted a bit early, but I'm more concerned with his road splits than a career ERA. Pelfrey would actually be a legitimate Ace if he developed a good out pitch that he could trust and raised his K/9 rate to over 7. At this though, i'm not holding my breath. Especially with Warthen, who at least did teach him another pitch last year, but apparently either not one that gets Ks, or now how to use it to get them.
