  2. Gwreck wrote: You know what the key play was? David Wright leading off the bottom of the 7th, fouling off several pitches on the 3-2 count before getting the walk. That's how rallies start. Frigid night at Shea but everything seemed a little warmer after the homer. Was obvious to me from 450+ feet away that the ball was a homer but I guess the default call is to go with the "in play" call and just fix things with the replay afterward. Funny moment in our section after the Wright error and Nickeas throwing Young out stealing, as a fan yells "Wright now owes Nickeas a case of beer!" indeed. it was obvious from 518 too. and yeah, pretty cold. wind wasn't that bad at least.

Collins has 10 now, but 11's free and clear. The real question... does he still have the beard? With a beard like that, he looks like he wouldn't be available to play Friday night or Saturday afternoon. no beard. he's shaved.
  4. Edgy DC wrote: I wouldn't interpret it that way. How about Pridie? Beating 79-1 odds! You know, I was thinking about giving him better odds than that. I just had a feeling, but dismissed it as foolish once I realized he wasn't on the 40 man.
  5. I'm off to Citi. Pridie will be what..909? 913? I don't remember what we're up to.
  6. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Saturday, in the park. Hope it don't drown baby and I-yiiii. It's bark in the park tomorrow. I'll be there tonight. No barking though.
  7. Also, the den is lower case. Matt den Dekker.

  9. Thinking about it more, the only thing this conclusively changes is that the fifth* best team in the league has a chance at a title rather than only the top 4. *Not that this is impossible now. The Yankees were the 5th best AL team by record in 2000, by 3 games. 9th overall in MLB.
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It's a slightly delayed reaction to my Terry Collins Deathwatch thread. Watch... they'll win their next eight games and end April with a winning record! Ben Grimm, the delusional Mets fan They do that, given that it's Philly at the end, they may end up in first place.
  11. More The Apple goodness Despite the setback, the Mets feel the debut was successful. So successful in fact that the plan to install a similar light in the dugout for manager Terry Collins. Early reports say that the sign will say DON'T BUNT or NO SERIOUSLY, DON'T BUNT. http://www.readtheapple.com/2011/04/new-baserunner-traffic-light-aids-mets.html#more

Dickey 140:1 Duda 150:1 Lastings Milledge 800:1 Mookie Wilson 800:1
  13. Per Metsblog: Brad Emaus has cleared waivers. However, since he was a Rule 5 draft choice from the Blue Jays in December, he had to be offered back to them for $25,000, and the Blue Jays accepted the offer and assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas. Memories of Emaus? or do we just not have anything to say? Gotta be more than Boyer..
  14. This would never happen, but what about a three games in two days scenario? Double-header wild card play in games starting Thursday 9/29. extremely pressurized meaningful baseball ALL DAY LONG. Stagger the two series so you have one at 1, two at 4, and a nightcap or something. Then if you need the third game, which essentially becomes the one game play-in, play it on Friday. Winner flies to the division winner to start the LDS on Saturday.
  15. Capuano 3 Wright 3 Nickeas 1 Davis .5 Buchholz .5 Reyes .5

What about so called experts spending days and weeks guessing which order guys are going to be selected in the draft?
  17. Gary said Parnell does not have an aneurysm, but a localized blood clot. He's taking asprin.
  18. Can we do a Mets Last contest?
  19. well, Thole played against Wandy the lefty right? It could just be that the plan has never been to play him 145+ games and he'd sit down frequently, not sure why _now_ is the time, at least let him play al ittle more while it's the third stringer backing him up.
  20. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: So... thanks, Terry? He's built a cohesive and unified[crossout]clubhouse[/crossout] fanbase.
  21. smg58 wrote: I think reason #10 was the best reason not to play for a tie -- our pen just can't be trusted right now. Of course, the first nine reasons all hold, too. Well, our pen wasn't overtaxed last night or anything. Even if Izzy doesn't go for a second inning, I trust Frankie to at least give us 1 or 2. I'd be okay playing for a tie if I felt like there was a chance going for more than one run would be detrimental to scoring even one, but that's not the case.
  22. This is (presumably) an SNY camera man...wearing a fox hat ,an nfl shirt and watching the Ranger game while he works.
  23. I didn't know if Knot was doing that or not or if he just tossed Nieuwy here for completenesses sake.

Were you raised by a Japanese au pair? wee bit scottish too.
