  1. the alternative is sleeping in and taking my car to get serviced, which just developing a disturbing sound when I break. Can I even 'pay at the door' without prereg'ing or anything?
  2. Tim looks like a real winner.
  3. He's sorta intriguing. his numbers have been declining but if a change of venue/hitting coach could give him a boost? He plays all over the place, it's a shame he doesn't bat lefty.
  4. leaning towards going. Not that I'm decisive or waiting until the last moment or anything.

But it's on the way to the Turnpike, to Velocity 17, to Sweet Avenue Bake Shop, and Giants stadium. I've never been inside though.

The real New Jersey is an amalgam of The Sopranos, Charles in Charge, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, with a lumpy helping of Stand by Your Man, the short lived but visceral Rosie O'Donnell/Melissa Gilbert FOX vehicle. Well the strip club on 17 is called Satin Dolls, home of the original bada bing which i'm told is from the Sopranos. i drive by it frequently.
  11. It's Franco, they just tweeted it. so that's cool.
  12. What about Leiter?
  13. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Team announced a new member will be named today. Guesses? Piazza? John Franco? Jesse Orosco? Franco seems like a good pick, and he's been around more lately helping out in spring training..etc. Leiter? Piazza is a no-brainer either this year or next. I figured they'd roll it into the whole Hall of Fame/All-Star extravaganza next year though.
  14. Edgy DC wrote: And Howard and Polanco, also. Unless you believe Chief Wiggum can still fake it in the middle of the diamond, the new backup at short and second is Michael Martinez, who hit .196 last year as a 28-year-old rookie. I forgot about Wiggum.

It won't be much longer that Valdez has any trade value at all, so I guess it's a good time to move him, but I'm glad to see any depth taken away from the Phils' infield. seems odd given the health issues with Utley and Rollins.

Hell, I tell people I'm from New York too, and I'm about the same distance away. Whoawhoawhoa. That's the sort of thing I'd expect from a "Chicagoan," or "Angeleno." I'm pretty sure I'm just in denial. And yeah, I'm sure people from say Gary, Indiana say they're from Chicago. The funny thing is when people ask "where in New York" and I say "oh, just over the bridge in Jersey" they accept it.
  17. Boardwalk Empire's pretty nice. I like the end scene with him washing liquor wash up around him.
  18. I actually had a very wordy complaint about FIP on my blog today.

In my view of the world, The far northwest. like by Buttzville and what not. nowhere near NYC, nowhere near Philly. up near the border of PA/NY/NJ.

  24. TheOldMole wrote: Why are RBIs not a meaningful metric? Each one represents a run scored as a result of something the guy did with his bat. No it doesn't. It represents how good the players in front of him are. When Castillo flicked a soft single in right center and Reyes scored from third after his triple, that doesn't actually represent great ability. A David Wright home run isn't twice as big a feat just because Daniel Murphy drew a walk in the previous AB. The stat doesn't really represent offensive talent. A .200 hitter on a good team can get twice as many RBIs as a .300 hitter on a bad team. That doesn't make him a better hitter.
