  2. Edgy DC wrote: Failure to recover with conservative treatment often ends up being one of the best indicators for surgery. That's sort of inane, isn't it? Sort of like failure to win your felony trial often ends up being one of the best indicators for imprisonment. yeah. probably. I think it's making the assumption that if it doesn't heal, it's not that it needs more time, it's that it needs to be fixed. there was some thought that Wright had plateau'd in his recovery, which concerns me. Keith certainly goes on and on about that. I tend to agree, but neither of us are experts on muscles.
  3. He'll be the major league backup. He'll "hit" just enough to justify his defensive role and backup nature. Thole will get a lot of games. 30 starts, .240/.302/.350 20 doubles, 4 HR. 25 RBI As for the bridesmaids, left to right: Herpes, Twins, A diamond ring, Syphilis, 3 cats, Herpes
  4. Rubin retweets some Nats writer that says that's what kept Zimmerman out. That's exactly what Zimmerman had last year when he had surgery, missed 60 games. He tried rehab 1st. Good info from this site: http://espn.go.com/fantasy/blog/_/name/bell_stephania/id/6467339 Only real red flag i see is this line: Failure to recover with conservative treatment often ends up being one of the best indicators for surgery. And the big win on the Mets doctors part: To recap, Zimmerman initially suffered a minor strain during spring training. Little more than a week into the start of the season Zimmerman severely aggravated the injury on a headfirst slide into second base.
  5. Mike Kerwick wrote: David Wright said he has small tear in his rectus abdominus. "It sounds a lot worse than it is." Expects to be in opening day lineup. that's the "six pack abs" muscle. lay off the weights dude.. Sounds like 'good' news, but on the other hand an actual tear is more than tightness and perhaps means more caution. Shouldn't be much beyond OD if he doesn't make it though.
  6. you're not? But I slaughtered a pig for you and everything..wasted.. http://espn.go.com/mlb/injuries/_/league/nl good list of injury updates around the majors. some other long lists on that list.
  7. you didn't even mention Carrasco's knee thing.
  8. 2 starts. 1-0 record, 3.5 ERA. 6 Ks, 3 BBs, 1 HBp
  9. Edgy DC wrote: Well, that's what happens when tweeting kills clarity. Sorry 'bout that. I could have misunderstood too. I don't follow him so most of what I see is second-hand and it's not always easy to recreate timelines out of tweets looking at it afterwards.
  10. Edgy DC wrote: Ruby tweeting that the Mets have been trying to push the beatwriters to write negative stories about Beltran. I thought he was saying this happened two years ago with the Walter Reed thing. Getting his panties in a bunch about people pointing out how media-driven that story was and claiming the Mets 'whispered' that they should write bad things about Beltran.
  11. Good. 2 spots left, I suppose we should try to fill them but I'm not sure it matters. Everyone still good on the 3/22 8:30 pm draft time/date? It's not really something you can miss. There's some time to work the free agent auction after the draft, but probably not to fill a competitive team.
  12. Edgy DC wrote: Tejada scratched out, Quintanilla inserted. Explanation not yet available. strained left groin.
  13. 13-6, 3.46, 170.1 IP, 165 K I think he's very good most games, with some blips here and there. I think the offense actually bails him out of a couple.
  14. Edgy DC wrote: Santana throwing his normal bullpen, and the report is that it's so routine that only two reporters are watching. The best sign will be when no one tells us about his bullpens.

I didn't change anything and I don't see anywhere I can even change/update the password. It claims there are still 3 spots available. Tell him to try again and if not let me know his team/account name and I'll email them about it.

  17. This may be the hardest one on the list. I think he'll have a 3.4 ERA or so, but I'm at a loss for how many strikeouts/starts he'll have. Projecting even 25 seems crazy optimistic..on the other hand, he's still standing.. I need some time..
  18. my pick is Herrera at this juncture for lefty. But Carson might be fun and I believe is on the 40 man already, which I imagine plays in. tight roster..
  19. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Turner's gotta pray Wright & Hairston stay on the sidelines to have a shot I think. Not sure what his appetite for the minors would be at this point. Reese Havens is still out? Collins seems pretty set on Turner. There hasn't really been any notion that he needs to earn his spot this year. I think at the very least they see him as pretty versatile and a good righty pinch-hitter. Ted Berg pointed out yesterday, no reason to demand a righty for Hairston's replacement, as presumably Turner should get those pinch hitting AB if he's going to be on the roster anyway.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: About Edgin possibly making the jump all the way from Class A? Collins: "I've seen unexpected guys like that, especially situational guys, surprise you. He's not intimidated. He's not scared when he goes out there. He's got a great arm. In the role he'd be used in, I certainly think he might be able to handle it." Bet we can find a similar quote from Manuel on Mejia (And damn, his middle name is Manuel?)
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: It was that damn Love Potion #9 again. If I told Jason once, I've told him a thousand times ... well, if that potion got him this..maybe it was worth it?

  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Just as long as they tell us in advance when the funeral is. ooh, it'll be a lot of fun following the media criticism of which players do and do not show up.
  24. bmfc1 wrote: The Mets continue to be good at hitting Grand Slams against the Tigers as Duda hits a slam. lol, I forgot they had two of those last year.
  25. Edgy DC wrote: That's a lot of questions. My issue: is this related to the broken back? I wouldn't think so, so far removed from it supposedly being healed, but who knows.
