The Mets have sucked at drafting players over the last generation and its pretty well known. It's not just because of good old random breaks why they've finished in first place in a five or six team division just once in the last 25 years. There's something foul and rotten at the top of this franchise. Is it your job to always defend against every negative thing about the Mets? Are we supposed to believe that the Mets have been a model franchise of perfection throughout this period? What Pelfrey gave us was incredibly valuable. Not every first round pick becomes an ace. I didn't say they've been good drafting players lately, but the draft is such controlled chaos that when you get value you count that as a win. Shelby's streak ends at 29, David Wright single up the middle.
