  1. Jeter apparently downsized in 2012, selling his place in Trump World Plaza where he snuck the girls in through the back door before giving them giftbaskets. Trump had this to say about it Derek Jeter had a great career until 3 days ago when he sold his apartment at Trump World Tower- I told him not to sell- karma?

That's the sort of stat that gets your batting coach fired. .128 / .189 / .191 // .380 YuHUCK. Daniel Murphy (of all people) leads the team in OBP, unless you count Abreu. Juan Lagares (of all people) leads the team in slugging, unless you count Abreu and Campbell. And deGrom. And Mejia. Kirk Nieuwenhuis has the highest ISO on the team. (Isolated slugging)
  3. Jeter caught taking every known PED in the book, praised for trying to get the best out of his body he can to help his team.
  4. How about that playoff play where they attributed him being woefully out of position and getting lucky to some sort of omnipresence foresight?

Did they need weeks to set up or something around that Wednesday? I don't mind a weird schedule, but messing with the Mets cause another franchise wanted to leverage their stadium for non-baseball reasons is dumb. The Mets already acquiesce to the US Open (They're away for the entire thing except the very final day) we don't need another monkey wrench. That ain't me talkin', but Katy Feeney, MLB schedule guru. I know. but she's not available to rant at.
  6. A-Rod shouts at a fielder to try to get him to drop a ball, vilified. Jeter fakes/lies about being hit by a baseball to take first base, praised/ignored. (This is about as close to the 'flopping' stuff that goes on in other sports as you can get in baseball) Media constantly criticizes others for saying nothing to the media, Jeter purposefully says nothing, and retreats to player only sections when he can (which was praised as 'no nonsense' by Michael Kay) and the media praises him for not giving them anything to write about?

Later 5% sounds about right. So far I've signed up for 3 online courses (including this one). The other two were Android programming ones. I've finished none of them. Mostly because I don't have the time. But even a lecture here, or a project there, fosters knowledge.

  10. How frowned upon is it to listen to MLB At-Bat during birthing classes?

  14. I'm feeling 5 HR from the Wright-Duda Duo during this series. And one from Niese.

  16. Edgy MD wrote: I think we may be setting ourselves up for disappointment if we're committed to the notion that the compensation is going to be better than any player the team drafts. I mean, he'll likely be further along, and better in that sense. But so is Jose Valverde. Probably on par with a 2nd/3rdish round pick from last year is the better comp.
  17. Except they probably already have a 1Bman better than Morales. Looking forward to completing that trade though.

Frayed Knot wrote: The race as of (almost) the end of May Jennry Mejia = 4 Kyle Farnsworth = 3 Jose Valverde = 2 Carlos Torres = 1 Daisuke Matsuzaka = 1 Jeurys Familia = 1 I suspect that no other team has had six different pitchers record a save in not quite the first 1/3 of the season. If only Parnell had gotten that strike call, we'd have 7!
  19. Every once in a while they've got free wise chip bags at the exit from the subway headed towards the rotunda. good fun. I believe this year Drakes Cakes is pushing the "don't you remember watching baseball and enjoying Drakes Cakes?!?!" angle.

  21. How about strict statistical formula so that All-Star isn't merely a vote but actually a badge like "Honor Roll"? You could set it hard and fast (.770 OPS or 15 HR, or 100 Ks) or make it propotional. top 3 SS by OPS get in. Or by some other formula. Then you take all the honorees and have the fans vote from that pool for starters. I mean, most of it's not gonna happen because MLB is happy to push this as a marketing thing and driving traffic to the site to vote and PR campaigns and all that. I guess you could still do that if you held a vote on June 10th and then campaigned for a month though.
  22. metsmarathon wrote: how big are the cheapest hot dogs at these stadiums? are we perhaps getting a better dog for the extra dollars? No. Admittedly it's been a sadly long time since I've taken in a ballgame at another park though. It's a standard sized Nathan's hot dog, which admittedly is probably more money in NY than elsewhere.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Yes, but this was an angry text. An angry meeting. You misread it. He was actually just playing Angry Birds and making wild demands about the team.
  24. You don't fire a hitting coach minutes after a game based on a text and a phone call during that game. And you don't do it via a quick 5 minute meeting. I'm straining to find the conclusion to this tidbit believable.
