  1. By now, we have all heard about starting pitchers losing their effectiveness the third time through a lineup. I don't doubt that massive amounts of regular season data show that. I wonder though if there is any analysis of the fresh reliever advantage that persists during the regular season, degrading over the course of a longer series as a reliever faces the same team 3 or more times. Of course the Dodgers go to the pen early as well, but it has seemed to me over the last few years that the teams that do that as a planned strategy (especially the MFYs) have fared less well than the teams that do it out of necessity.
  2. Thank you Edgy for posting the photo.
  3. My Dad says a member of the parish(OLHC E28 St Brooklyn) drew 50 of them for Mr Hodges to sign.
  4. This is mine. I am one of the two named persons in the autograph. Mr Hodges lived 1 block away. Signed December 1969 when I was 13 months old. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2020/10/mister-met-tim.jpg>
  5. This is Amazin' news. Mets will finally have an owner with the resources and commitment necessary to compete and win.
  6. Alonso - last year and now. Jake is most definitely greater, but Pete is the man that rallies both the team and the fans
  7. I have worn a rather large brace on my left knee for 20+ years. based on my experience and no recollection of any other MLB player playing effectively with something similar, i am pretty sure it will not work out for jed to be anything other than a PH or DH unless he can get healthy enough to play without the brace.
  8. =Ceetar post_id=31723 time=1581707457 user_id=102] It'd be amusing to see the Mets go from a manager that should go into the Hall of Fame with the team, to an owner.
  9. https://nypost.com/2020/02/14/alex-rodriguez-emerges-as-potential-mets-buyer/https://nypost.com/2020/02/14/alex-rodriguez-emerges-as-potential-mets-buyer/ God help us
  10. I was at the Dodger game. My 15yo son noticed Rajai stepping to the plate before he was announced as the PH and immediately stood up and exclaimed - "Yes!! Rajai Davis is coming up - he is awesome, we got this" I was still stewing over some now forgotten strategic error by Mickey and had no idea why he was so confident but Amazingly the boy was right. Thanks for the memory Rajai!
  11. https://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/80341/mets-faring-ok-in-new-tv-landscapehttps://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/80341/mets-faring-ok-in-new-tv-landscape this article from 2014 says the Mets receive $52 million per year from SNY versus Phillies receive $100 million/year and Dodgers $340 million for their local rights. Cross-ownership muddles up all of this but one thing seems clear - Fred & Jeff are dreaming if they think they can sell the team for full price without opening up the local rights deal. They want to sell you the house, keep the keys and charge you rent.
  12. agree that the consolidated entity including SNY is likely profitable. But not hard to imagine the baseball club losing money if they are not receiving full market value for the broadcasting rights from SNY. Wilpons are trying to sell the expense vehicle and keep the revenue vehicle.
  13. The Bloomberg article said the team lose $50 million a year excluding SNY, and SNY is not on the table. In other words, Wipons want to sell the team but keep their share of the profits. I dont see them finding anyone rich enough or stupid enough to play their games.
  14. I am more confident in Luis than I ever was with Carlos.
  15. He has probably already sent Beltran a laptop, camera and garbage can
  16. Cohen is not the least bit likable, but the minute he takes over he will steamroll over anyone in the organization that is not 100% focused on winning. Hopefully he has more patience to see through the Wilpon's roadblocks than Einhorn did. I wan to know exactly when the 5 year waiting period starts because I will be counting down the days!
  17. Evans, Munson, Simmons and Keith would get my vote. Miller as well.
  18. really starting to wonder why they didn't just keep Mickey
  19. So close. Congrats to the Buffalo. Lets hope he doesn't get another AB.
  20. Much love to Lugo for that. I still would have pitched him last night....
  21. Wilson next, no?
  22. http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png> Turner SS Cabrera 2B Rendon 3B Soto LF Zimmerman 1B Yamaha C Robles CF Parra RF Sanchez P Yamaha-ha-ha!
  23. I didn't drink either but they did drive me into the cookie jar only 22,hours into my post Labor Day health drive.
  24. Nido was a double switch not a PH - that was done specifically to give Lugo 2 innings
  25. Lugo has pitched back to back only 4 times this year. I haven't checked but I doubt any were day games after night. It was a completely unnecessary decision
