  1. Those Hosers are leading the USA 5-0 in the third inning! Announcers are talking about how Clemens may have to pitch a big game on Friday. I hate the sound of fellation on baseball casts.

  3. "Hit the canoe" sounds like some kind of euphemism.
  4. Well you know, Yankee fans aren't people.
  5. I'm thinking that he's going to quietly exit from baseball soon anyhow so why bother with the pr ugliness of trying to force him out.
  6. Sounds like scapegoating to me. I don't think a witch hunt to find and remove all 'roids users from 1995-2005 and expunge their records will do much good. I'm of the opinion that performance-enhancing drug use was the rule rather than the exception the past decade and thus singling out a few prominent players to punish is unfair. I think we have to accept that the stats of the past decade are tainted, but that since drug use was rampant it in a sense created a level playing field for that era (and of course this will be kept in mind when comparing to other eras). The rules in place if followed properly should bring back credibility to the game as well as prevent the uneccessary health risks of performance. As for the past, there's not much that can be done to change that so I say what's done is done. Many of these players are near the end of their careers anyhow and others will see their abilities dwindle now that they have to play honestly.
  7. Totally off-topic but everytime I see this thread I think of that awful song by the Dave Matthews Band which in retrospect signified they'd jumped the shark. Nice to be quoted by Edgy although I don't know if it's being used in the original jest I intended to be.
  8. Yea. Understandable, but wrong.
  9. Johnny Shavedman legs out a triple. Another MFY at bat.
  10. Until Derrek Lee goes Kaboom to put USA up 1-0.
  11. Lopez fans A-Rod. Vamos Mexico! It sounds like the crowd in Phoenix is partisan to Mexico.
  12. Go USA...oh wait, it's Capt. Intangibles.
  13. The USA uniforms are fugly.
  14. Why not friggin' Milwaukee? There's beer for starters, plus it fit my schedule best. San Diego - already using vacation time for something in April Phoenix - prior obligation, don't like hot & dry Miami -prior obligation for weekend series, vegetarian Houston - almost did this but decided to save Labor Day for something else, don't like mosquitos Los Angeles - games on weekdays Denver - games on weekdays Chicago - went to Chicago for my 2004 baseball trip (as Farmer Ted will verify) These will have to wait for another season.
  15. Controversy on a hit by Cabrera that bounces off the top of the wall. Umps get the call right, Venezuela scores only one run to make it 6-5.
  16. Each season I try to make at least one trip to see the Mets play on the road so I can visit Major League ballparks as well as see different parts of this great land of ours. This year I will be visiting a ballpark, city, and state I've never been too: Milwaukee! Probably not the top tourist destination but It looks like a fun place to spend a weekend watching baseball and drinking beer, and maybe TransMonk's band will be playing a gig.
  17. I remember when Castillo hit a home run off Pedro during a Mets-Red Sox game I saw at Fenway back in 1998.
  18. I think Spring Training is a good time to promote the Adopt A Prospect Forum. For new users and old users who haven't been there in a while the basic concept is to find a player -- any player -- in the Mets farm system who has not yet appeared in a MLB game. Start a thread for this player in the AAPF and give us regular updates on that player's progress or lack therof (for example, big games, monthly stats, promotions/demotions within the farm system, injuries, etc.). You can set up email updates with Google news to keep you informed of what's happening in your prospect's life. With any luck, one day your adoptee will make his New York Mets debut and we all will be enriched by knowing his history. For those of you who have already adopted prospects, I ask you to go to the forum and update your threads if you intend to continue to follow that player this season. I'd like to archive the AAPF to move out players who are no longer with the Mets (like my own two adoptees) and those whose adopters are no longer interested. Please update -- even to say "bump" -- by noon on Thursday Mar. 16th. I will archive inactive threads that afternoon.
  19. Oh yeah, I remember Kramer vs. Kramer being the big shit at the time. It did make the list of 1003 movies you need to see before you die though.
  20. It's a pretty big deal (in WBC terms) for Korea to beat Japan in the Tokyo Dome and sweeping the pool.
  21. Rats.
  22. Watching the heated China v. Chinese Taipei battle now (CT up 5-0). The Tokyo Dome is empty for this matchup of winless Group A teams. I guess the Japan v. Korea matchup will be better attended.
  23. cooby wrote: What kinda dad deserts his kid and goes to a Tiki Bar? Sounds like a typical dad. Except maybe the Tiki part, that's kind of sissy.
  24. Opens next Friday. Looks like it could be good.
