  1. Well, Reyes gets cortisone, that aint good...In season trades, nah, firings, nah Just gonna have to suck it down this season and hope for the best... THEN FIRE EVERYBODY
  2. ="Edgy DC":339u3ni9]I ask this every year. Are these guys being rated on different scales or against a universal mean?[/quote:339u3ni9] Good question..I graded players against what my expectations were and are for each..Obviously Wright is better than Santos although they are graded alike As for Cora..he was brought in to be a backup. He has largely played everyday, played through pain, provided some offense and to me shown maturity and leadership on the field. Thats an A- bar to me given his season start role. metirish Jul 07 2009 01:21 PM I dunno what Cora has done to get acclaim for being a leader , it's like if it gets repeated enough then it must be true. I blame Keith . Benjamin Grimm Jul 07 2009 01:24 PM Unless we're in the clubhouse, we don't know who's a leader and who isn't, and we have to take the word of those who do go into the clubhouse. (For the most part. Sometimes, as with Keith Hernandez, you can see that leadership on the field.) And speaking of Keith, I think he has the track record to know who's a leader and who isn't. I trust his judgment in this area. Nymr83 Jul 07 2009 01:32 PM ]also, m.e.t.b.o.t. is unable to operate t-shirt cannons, and is fairly certain that any attempt to do so would end up in a rapid ascent to the farthest reaches of the promenade level and a unique souvenir for an unsuspecting fan. pray that SJR doesnt catch you. MFS62 Jul 15 2009 06:09 PM ="Edgy DC":1vabyzts]I ask this every year. Are these guys being rated on different scales or against a universal mean?[/quote:1vabyzts] My rating scale is based on how the player performed against the expectations I had for that player coming into this season. I also rated based on how well they performed while they played. I didn't hold injuries against them because, well, shit happens. A = far exceeded my expectaions B = exceeded expectations C = met expectations D = did not meet expectations F = did not meet expectations by a wide margin. INC = not enough to judge Santos A Schneider D Murphy D Delgado B Tatis D Castillo B Cora B (maybe even an A) J.Reyes D Wright D Sheffield B Evans INC Beltran C Church C F. Martinez INC J.Reed C Santana B Pelfrey C Maine C O.Perez F (only because I didn't expand my rating scale any lower) L. Hernandez C Nieve A Putz D Stokes C S.Green B Feliciano B F.Rodriguez B Redding D J. Manuel C Minaya D Citifield INC - haven't been there yet. Later
  3. First, lets hope 39-42 doesn't become 78-84 Santos B Pleasant surprise, journeyman backup at best Schneider C Average in all regards Murphy C- Prospect or suspect? Delgado A All systems go til injury Tatis D I'm blaming this on Father time Castillo B+ Aside from the drop has earned his keep Cora A- Above and beyond the call of duty J.Reyes C Was average before injury Wright B Every superstar has an off year, welcome to it Sheffield B+ Old Skool work ethic and production has surprised me Evans INC Trade bait..flakey Beltran A- A Gazelle, health may be an ongoing concern Church B Write his name in the lineup everyday and leave him alone F. Martinez INC Short Sample, but green J.Reed B Smooth, deserves more time Santana A- Recent struggles would be overlooked on winning team Pelfrey C+ Good Start Bad start Maine C- That shoulder may be Sirloin O.Perez F But his agent gets an A L. Hernandez B Innings eater Nieve B Lightning will leave the bottle Putz F Was likely damaged goods on arrival Stokes B Effective S.Green B See Stokes Feliciano C+ Generic lefty specialist F.Rodriguez B+ close to automatic... Redding D Electric stuff Keith? J. Manuel C- ineffectual Minaya D Didn't expand core, bought used but good parts Citifield A Top Shelf Mr. Met A will not be replaced by m.e.t.b.o.t or creepy sun baby Prediction of final record 83-79
  4. Nieve 2.5 Cora 1 Stokes 1 Fleiciano 0.5

  6. Ah..the meat of the order..
  7. Happy 4th of July to all of us and those that are no longer with us..God Bless
  8. ="metirish":3j2x5v0a]I don't think he's done with the Mets , I say he goes to the bullpen for a while. There is no guarantee that Perez will be any better. I am curious why Keith likes him so much , every start I have watched that Keith has done he raves about Redding...." always loved his stuff"...he says it all the time....[/quote:3j2x5v0a] Seaver always spoke similarly about Seo..go figure

  10. ="Frayed Knot":1j03jjer]7/4 -- Omir Santos, in the CBP, with the catcher's glove. Directly leads to one run and comes just two outs after Wright inexplicably backs off of a foul pop up.[/quote:1j03jjer] I don't usually agree with McCarver but this IS major league baseball Edgy DC Jul 10 2009 06:44 PM Blown rundown play, 7/9. Frayed Knot Jul 10 2009 06:45 PM Well, shit, if we're going to track simple errors here we're going to need more bandwidth.
  11. Fire Jerry, enough little league crap, not to belittle little leaguers
  12. Nice job by Misch trying to make the stick save backing up
  13. ="Benjamin Grimm":3ezg9a97]July 2 in Pittsburgh.[/quote:3ezg9a97] me too..my turning it off made it all the sweeter like Christmas morn smg58 Jul 03 2009 10:54 AM I'm going to nominate Pelfrey's gem on July 1. The Mets desperately needed a pitcher to step up, and hopefully we will look back on that game as the turning point of the season. John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 25 2009 09:02 PM Saturday July 25 at Houston: Niese pitches well D makes the plays 3 HRs including Wright's first of July Starts astonishing win streak* *-perhaps
